Fury explained that after the Asgardians arrived on Earth, they realized there were other beings in the universe, powerful and sometimes hostile. Therefore, SHIELD began developing weapons capable of countering these supervillains. Initially, those around him described Stark as a sarcastic individual. He enjoyed drinking and gambling, yet possessed the ability to become an expert in thermonuclear physics overnight. A gifted mechanical engineer, Stark constantly creates new technologies and seeks ways to improve them, but he cares little about how his inventions affect others.

During his speech, Stark, without thinking twice, decided not to stick to the somewhat ridiculous official story and simply announced that he was Iron Man. Iron Man had accomplished many heroic deeds, including resolving tensions in the Middle East. Time magazine named Stark its Person of the Year. Tony was blackmailed by the Ten Rings and Lena. Iron Man destroyed all the terrorists and rescued Lena's kidnapped son. Stark also participated in an operation to seize a ship controlled by the Ten Rings. Tony assisted Thaddeus Ross in rescuing a pilot who had crashed in the Congo. Stark's life wasn't as good as it seemed. The arc reactor was poisoning Tony's body with palladium, and wearing the Iron Man suit only exacerbated the situation. To cope with the symptoms, Stark drank homemade medicine. Tony also understood that the US government wanted to get its hands on all the technology he'd invented. Stark joined the team on the Helicarrier and immediately began spouting off scientific jargon, having previously studied materials regarding the Tesseract. To control the Tesseract's power, Loki needed iridium, and Selvig was supposed to help him understand how to make the artifact more stable. Among those gathered, only Banner understood Stark's theories, and Tony expressed admiration for Bruce's mental abilities, as well as his ability to transform into a colossal green monster. Banner and Stark decided to study Loki's scepter. Natasha Romanova managed to discover that Loki's goal on the Helicarrier was to unleash the Hulk. Around the same time, Fury's team learned that someone had hacked the data center. Nick didn't even have to guess who had done it, and he approached the scientists with questions. (Just a Very Intelligent Planner), after his butler, Edwin Jarvis. Some time later, James Rhodes joined the US Air Force and became a liaison between Stark Industries and the US Military. Under the leadership of Tony Stark and Stane, Stark Industries became one of the most advanced and successful companies in the world, creating and marketing new types of futuristic weaponry. On New Year's Eve 1999, Tony Stark and his lover, Maya Hansen, attended a scientific conference in Bern, Switzerland. Stark was so drunk he couldn't make a speech, so he went out to celebrate. At the party, he met Ho Yinsen, who introduced him to Doctor Wu, but Stark was immediately bored with them. After meeting Hansen and his security guard, Happy Hogan, Stark headed to his hotel room. Along the way, he encountered the talented scientist Aldrich Killian, who was seeking funding for his research.

It appears indistinguishable from the liquid in web shooters, but it is much stronger and can withstand the impact of Damage Control cannons. The firing process differs from using gadgets: Peter requires a different concentration to fire organic web. He is also capable of releasing enormous volumes of web, instantly entangling entire crowds. Peter is an excellent student at Midtown High School. He is interested in science, particularly physics and chemistry, as well as engineering. However, the young man's joy was short-lived: after picking her up, he learned that her father was the Vulture. On the way to school, Adrian Toomes realized who his daughter's boyfriend was. When Liz got out of the car, the Vulture threatened Peter but promised not to kill him if he kept his mouth shut. Unwilling to let things slide, Peter apologized to Liz and left the prom. Enlisting Ned's help and donning his homemade costume, he set out to find his enemies. First, Spider-Man dealt with one of the Vulture's henchmen, Shocker, and then, stealing Flash Thompson's car, he raced to the Vulture's location. Ned helped Peter track down the villain. Parker encountered the Vulture suit, which, it turned out, could be controlled remotely. Spider-Man was defeated again and found himself buried under rubble. However, Peter managed to escape, which inspired him. Finding Toomes again, Parker realized he was trying to steal the plane that was transporting Avengers belongings from one headquarters to another. Peter managed to cause the plane to crash, and it crashed onto the beach. There, the final battle between Vulture and Spider-Man took place. Despite Toomes being significantly stronger, his damaged wings exploded, and the Vulture lost his powers. It turned out that the bank robbers themselves were behind the explosion and that they had other alien weapons they were selling. A fight ensued, and the leader of the villains, dressed as a giant winged creature, later joined in. Spider-Man wasn't strong enough to fight him off and nearly drowned. Luckily, Iron Man arrived just in time. He saved Peter and told him to abandon his pursuit of these criminals and focus on something simpler. But Parker disobeyed and decided to find out more about the Vulture. He learned that another deal was taking place in Washington, D.C., and headed there as part of the academic decathlon team, which also included Liz, Ned, Michelle, and some of their other classmates, including Flash Thompson, with whom Peter was at odds. Ned helped Parker disable the limitations of his suit, and Peter gained more abilities, though he didn't know how to use many of them. Another run-in with the Vulture ended badly for Parker, and he was locked away in a Damage Control warehouse. Peter was alone there, save for an artificial intelligence he named Karen. Parker escaped, but missed the competition. He tried to contact Ned, as he still had a piece of the alien weapon, a highly explosive one. However, Ned couldn't hear Parker's messages. He and his classmates went on a tour of the city's landmarks, and they began climbing to the top of the Washington Monument. An explosion caused a malfunction, and the elevator they were in nearly collapsed, but Peter managed to save everyone. Returning to New York, Spider-Man continued his search for the Vulture and his men. This time, his attempt to fight back against the bandits nearly resulted in a ferry crash and the deaths of many. Iron Man arrived and saved everyone, but as punishment he took the suit from Parker, saying that if Peter is nobody without the suit, then he is not worthy of it (he later returned it).

Peter runs and moves faster than the average man. He demonstrated this ability during his battle with the Winter Soldier, as well as during Civil War, when he fought other superheroes. Spider-Man's body is durable enough to withstand fairly powerful blows from his opponents. During the battle at Berlin Airport, he escaped with only a black eye. He also suffered no damage after a blow from Hermann Schultz. Peter also withstood the powerful blast of the Green Goblin's pumpkin bomb.

Peter quickly defeated his opponents, but was thrown out a window by Falcon's drone. After the mission, Peter returned home, telling May he got his bruises from fighting "Steve from Brooklyn" and his "big friend." He was later seen in his room, detecting a spider-signal activated by his new web-shooters. Stark allowed Peter to keep his new suit and said he would contact him again if he needed his help. Stark left Peter the suit and declared that he wasn't an Avenger yet. Dressed as Spider-Man, Peter began going out on the streets and helping ordinary people. These were mostly unremarkable tasks, like catching a bicycle thief and helping his grandmother find her way. Peter abandoned his school interests and told his friends he was interning at Stark Industries. Parker regularly left audio reports on his progress, trying to reach Stark but getting through to Happy Hogan, who ignored him. Finally, Spider-Man noticed a relatively serious crime: bank robbers disguised as Avengers. Parker confronted them and, to his surprise, discovered the criminals were carrying a powerful weapon of clearly extraterrestrial origin. Its explosion destroyed a nearby convenience store, but Peter managed to save its owner. Afterward, Parker hurried home. Unable to change clothes, his backpack containing his regular clothes had been stolen, so he climbed in through a window using his powers. Peter thus stunned his friend Ned, who now knew his secret. Now Parker had to cope with the excessive attention of Ned, who was eager to tell everyone that Peter was Spider-Man. One day, they went to a party hosted by their classmate Liz, whom Parker had a crush on and who was a passionate fan of Spider-Man. Determined to surprise her, Peter changed into a suit and decided to arrange a surprise. Suddenly, he noticed an explosion nearby and decided to investigate.

Peter Parker was bitten by a genetically modified spider, giving him spider-like powers. According to Peter, the spider died after biting him. Parker knew he couldn't use these powers for anything like playing for a football team, as it would be too suspicious. However, realizing that if he didn't use his powers for good, he would be guilty of it, he decided to become a crimefighter, adopting the alias "Spider-Man." Using scrap materials, Peter constructed web-shooters that could attach to his wrists and shoot webs, and he created his first costume from ordinary clothes. He led his superhero activities in Queens, where he fought petty crime. One day, Spider-Man prevented a bus accident, saving passengers. Witnesses captured Peter's actions on video and posted the clip to YouTube, where it quickly gained numerous views. Six months after Peter became Spider-Man, Tony Stark came to his home and summoned him for a private conversation. In Peter's room, Stark revealed his identity as Spider-Man and then probed Peter's motivation for engaging in such activities. After listening, Tony offered Peter the chance to fly with him to Germany, which alarmed Peter. Stark explained the situation arising from the Sokovia Accords and how Captain America had acted wrongly in breaking the law. Tony recruited Peter to his Team, gave him a new suit, and brought him to Germany to battle Team Captain America. At the airport, donning the new Spider-Man suit, Peter stole Steve Rogers' shield using his webbing. After a lengthy conversation, Scott Lang, having shrunk himself using technology, climbed onto the shield and returned it to Captain America. As the battle began, Spider-Man pursued the Winter Soldier and Falcon, who were fleeing inside the airport, and then attacked them, breaking the glass.
