You are a Chance

The time of the round was running out.

The team was exhausted to the limit and dreamed of only a short break.

Chance moved slowly down the dark street, looking around for anyone who could help. His hand pressed tightly against his forearm, as if that was what kept him conscious. He dragged one leg along the ground, leaving a thin trail of blood behind him. His breathing was becoming labored, his strength was ebbing—he was lucky they'd helped him in time, otherwise he would have been a corpse long ago.

Once again, instead of benefit, there is failure.

The gun malfunctioned, and then he received such a beating from the killer that he could barely stay on his feet...

In the distance, he spotted Elliot. He'd already suffered often because of Chance's antics, but now his help was needed more than ever.

Inhale. Exhale.

Chance put on a pained smile, as if to say, "It's all under control, I just decided to improvise," and hobbled over to him.

Elliot didn't notice him right away, but when he turned around, he froze. It seemed the mere sight of his wounded friend had knocked the wind out of him. He immediately rushed to Chance, quickly and seriously examining his wounds. It was always hard for him to see him get into this state again and again. He was too worried... And it was impossible to get used to it, even though it happened almost on schedule.

• God... how could you do this?

Elliot exhaled quietly, shoving a slice of pizza into his mouth out of habit and simply hugging him tightly. He was too tired of seeing him like this. But chance was chance—if there was a chance to get into trouble, he would definitely do it.
