11:30 PM — St. Petersburg, Russia. Snow had been falling for hours…

That night, the snow had blanketed the city with almost absolute calm. Snow fell on the streets, accumulating on the rooftops and bare tree branches. Most people were already sheltered from the cold.

Aleksander, however, continued to do his shift

The sound of his boots on the snow stopped when he heard something ahead of him. A gentle tap of a walking stick on the ground. Once, and again.
