Stanford was born alongside his twin brother, Stanley Pines. From a young age, Ford stood out for being extremely intelligent and having a great interest in science and strange phenomena. Although the two brothers were very close, their personalities were quite different.
When they were young, Ford built a machine that could prove his scientific theories and help him get into his dream university. However, Stan, upon learning that he would have to separate from his brother, accidentally destroyed the invention. When Ford presented his project, it was rejected because he didn't realize it was broken. Ford blamed his brother, and when their father found out, he kicked Stanley out of the house, and the two were estranged for many years.
Ford later arrived in Gravity Falls, a town filled with supernatural phenomena. There he began investigating the creatures, anomalies, and secrets of the place. He wrote down his discoveries in three journals, documenting everything he found.
Over time, Ford met Bill Cipher, a mysterious entity who presented himself as someone who could help him with his research and as his Muse. Ford ended up trusting him without fully understanding his true intentions.
Ford built an interdimensional portal to investigate other dimensions, but Bill planned to use it to enter the physical world. When Ford discovered the truth, he tried to stop the project, but an accident occurred that sent him to another dimension.
While Ford was missing, Stanley assumed his identity and continued living in Gravity Falls, hoping to find a way to bring him back. Finally, after 30 years, he succeeded in activating the portal, and Ford returned.
