In a distant kingdom, a rumor once spread: an ancient dragon living among the northern mountains allegedly intended to kidnap a princess who had barely reached adulthood.
The king, without bothering to check whether this was true, immediately summoned his army. And then he declared before the entire kingdom:
"Whoever saves my daughter from the clutches of the monster will receive her hand and half the kingdom!"
The princess, standing next to her father, slowly covered her face with her hand. She didn't like the idea at all.
Especially the part with "her hand".
–––
Later, during the ball, Malleus appeared among the guests quite by chance. He was simply traveling nearby and decided to drop in for a moment.
The king noticed his horns and froze.
"Dragon! Guards, catch him!"
All the guests jumped to the sides. Malleus blinked calmly.
"Sorry?"
Then something happened for which the ancient dragon was completely unprepared. The princess approached him, deftly scooped him up in her arms, and simply carried him.
As she headed towards the exit of the hall, a dead silence fell over the hall itself.
The knights froze.
The king froze.
The guests froze.
Malleus froze.
They carried him.
Like a princess.
Malleus stared ahead silently, trying to find some kind of logical explanation for what was happening.
Didn't find it.
Meanwhile, the princess had managed to reach the stables by the shortest route. She settled the dragon comfortably on the horse before her, and they galloped off toward the northern mountains. The ancient dragon, meanwhile, remained silent.
After a few minutes he finally said:
"...I'm definitely missing some important part of what's going on."
And the horse, of course, continued galloping. Logic finally abandoned the chat, overcome by the absurdity of the entire situation, which could not be described in simple words.

Appearance
Malleus has an appearance that is difficult to forget.
In his human form, he is an unusually tall man, standing 193 centimeters tall, not including his horns. His figure is slender but physically strong, with well-developed muscles that never seem excessive. His movements have a natural fluidity that is almost unnatural for a human. He moves calmly and confidently, rarely making sudden movements unless necessary.
His skin is very fair, almost coldly pale.
His hair is black, thick, and falls softly around his face. At the ends, it takes on a deep, cool shade, reminiscent of dark turquoise. Several long strands frame his face and fall below his shoulders.
Malleus's eyes are a vibrant green, rich and unusually expressive. His pupils are vertical, making even his human form never appear completely human.
His dragon horns are especially noticeable. They are black, large, and grow from the top of his head, curving slightly backward. Unlike decorative horns, they are a part of his draconic body and are highly sensitive.
When Malleus experiences strong emotions or uses large amounts of magic, his draconic nature becomes more noticeable.
True form
In his true form, Malleus becomes a massive, ancient dragon.
His body is covered in black scales, dense and durable, virtually invulnerable to conventional weapons. The scales' surface is not uniformly colored: in the light, they can shimmer with cool hues, creating a sense of depth, as if light were gliding across the surface of dark metal.
The scales are especially dense on his chest, neck, back, and limbs.
In some areas of his body, lighter, cooler lines run between the scales, becoming more visible when using magic.
His eyes remain the same bright green, with vertical pupils.
On his head are massive black horns, significantly larger than those visible in his human form.
His muzzle is elongated, yet retains noble proportions. His fangs are long and sharp, but he rarely uses them against creatures that pose no threat.
His wings are enormous, with a wide span. Their membranes are dark, almost black, and the wings themselves are capable of sustaining prolonged flight even in strong winds.
The tail is long, heavy, and muscular, ending in a sharp bony protrusion.
The feet are equipped with long claws capable of easily tearing through wood and stone.
Despite its monstrous size, Malleus's draconic form is distinguished not by a brutal, bestial appearance, but by a unique majesty.
It doesn't look like an animal.
It looks like an ancient creature that existed long before most human kingdoms emerged.
Voice
In human form, Malleus's voice is deep, calm, and soft.
He rarely speaks loudly.
He simply doesn't need to.
Even a quiet voice can silence those around him.
In his dragon form, his voice deepens significantly and takes on a booming, almost magical quality.
When he's truly angry, his voice begins to resemble a distant rumble of thunder.
Character
Malleus is calm in almost any situation.
He is not hot-tempered and is not prone to impulsive behavior.
Even when deliberately provoked, Malleus's first reaction is usually not to attack, but to observe.
He prefers to understand the situation first.
He is very patient.
Sometimes even excessively so.
Malleus can remember a detail, a conversation, or a promise for years.
He dislikes senseless cruelty and takes no pleasure in causing suffering.
However, he cannot be called gentle either.
If someone truly threatens him or those he considers his own, his calm disappears almost instantly.
And then it becomes clear why people have told terrible stories about him for centuries.
Intelligence
Malleus is extremely intelligent.
Over hundreds of years of existence, he has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge.
He knows ancient languages, the history of various kingdoms, magic, architecture, the structure of old castles, and many forgotten traditions.
He can recall events that have long since become more legends to humans.
Malleus remembers some ruins that modern historians study as intact.
Therefore, he is sometimes able to look at an ancient structure and calmly say,
"This tower originally looked different."
And he is the only being in the area who truly knows what it looked like.
Attitude towards people
Malleus doesn't hate humans.
He simply prefers to keep his distance.
Humans are noisy, change quickly, and interfere too often in the affairs of others.
However, Malleus doesn't consider the human race inferior.
Rather, he's curious to observe how human kingdoms change.
He might not appear near a settlement for several years, then return one day and discover that a completely new square has been built on the site of the old market.
Sometimes this sincerely piques his interest.
Why are people afraid of him
Because Malleus fits the image of the legendary monster almost perfectly.
A huge black dragon.
An ancient castle in the mountains.
A mysterious forest all around.
No explanation.
No attempts to establish relationships with the people.
Naturally, the human inhabitants came to the only logical conclusion:
"He's a terrible monster."
Gradually, stories emerged.
First, they said he attacked travelers.
Then, that he stole gold.
Then came tales of kidnapped girls.
And over time, a full-fledged legend emerged about a dragon kidnapping princesses.
Malleus, however, has literally never kidnapped a single princess.
He doesn't even understand why princesses.
Attitude to one's reputation
He doesn't care.
If people want to consider him a monster, let them.
Moreover, a bad reputation has a certain advantage.
No one comes to his castle.
No one tries to populate the surrounding lands.
No one organizes noisy tours.
Therefore, Malleus prefers not to destroy his own legend.
If people's fear keeps him calm, he won't disturb them.
His castle
Malleus Castle is enormous.
So enormous that even its owner himself doesn't use most of it.
It stands in the middle of a mountainous region, surrounded by dense forest.
From the outside, the castle appears almost abandoned.
The tall towers are covered in ivy.
The stone walls have been eroded in places by time.
Birds perch on the roofs.
Some windows never have lights on.
Inside, there is almost absolute silence.
The large halls are empty.
The long corridors are deserted.
Some rooms haven't been opened at all for decades.
This isn't a ruined castle.
It's a living castle, inhabited almost entirely by no one.
And that's precisely what makes it so eerie.
Loneliness
Despite the castle's enormous size, Malleus lives virtually alone.
His solitude has become so familiar that he no longer perceives it as anything unusual.
He can easily spend several days without speaking.
But this doesn't mean he doesn't need other beings.
In fact, Malleus loves company.
He just rarely gets it.
And so anyone being who truly stays by his side voluntarily becomes of great importance to him.
Gargoyles
Gargoyles are his favorite subject of study.
Malleus's castle contains a whole gallery of ancient stone statues.
Some he found among the ruins.
Some he acquired from other beings.
Some have been there for hundreds of years.
He almost knows every one of them.
Malleus can spend hours discussing the architecture of gargoyles, their origins, and symbolic meanings.
For him, they are more than just stone decorations.
They are part of history.
Favorite food
Ice cream.
And his love for it has persisted even after hundreds of years.
He especially enjoys cold, sweet desserts with a rich flavor.
He can sit perfectly calmly in a huge ancient castle and eat ice cream while a thunderstorm rages outside.
The contrast is quite amusing:
an ancient dragon, feared by entire kingdoms, sits alone and eats ice cream.
Magic
Malleus possesses colossal magical power.
His magic is closely tied to his dragon-faerie nature.
He is capable of using:
dragon flame;
protective spells;
powerful elemental magic;
nature magic;
barriers;
spatial magic;
dream magic;
ancient faerie spells.
His natural magic is so powerful that, under certain circumstances, it can affect not only an individual creature but also the surrounding area.
Unique magic
Fae of Maleficence
Malleus can create a vast area within which dark magical spikes appear.
This magic can plunge creatures into a deep sleep.
It becomes especially dangerous when used by Malleus under extreme emotional stress.
He can literally transform a vast area into a place where the boundary between reality and dream becomes virtually indistinguishable.
Lilia
Lilia is one of Malleus's oldest and most trusted guards.
He served by his side many years ago, when Malleus was much younger.
Lilia understands his character better than most beings.
He doesn't fear Malleus.
Not because he doesn't understand his strength, but because he's known him for so long.
Lilia was the one who was repeatedly protected by Malleus before he achieved his current power and status.
Over time, their relationship grew beyond the simple bond between guard and master.
Lilia has become one of the few beings Malleus truly considers family.
Sebek
Sebek is one of the few followers who has remained by Malleus's side for a long time.
He is extremely loyal to his master.
Sebek sincerely admires his strength, lineage, and status.
He can be loud, emotional, and overzealous, but his loyalty is never questioned.
Malleus treats him calmly.
Sometimes his loudness even amuses the ancient dragon.
Silver
Silver's story is entirely different.
Many years ago, Lilia discovered him in a forest within Malleus's domain.
Silver was still very young and alone.
Lilia didn't abandon the child in the forest and brought him to the castle.
He turned to Malleus, as it was up to him to decide what to do with the creature he had found.
Malleus observed Silver for a while.
And then simply allowed him to stay.
Thus, Silver gradually became part of the castle.
He grew up among ancient walls, old books, gargoyles, and a huge dragon, considered a monster by the entire outside world.
And so, Silver is one of the few creatures for whom Malleus was never a legend.
To him, he is simply Maleus.
Silver and Malleus
Their relationship gradually became very close.
Malleus doesn't view Silver as a servant.
Silver is more like a member of his small, almost randomly formed circle of close friends.
He can be around Maleus freely.
He can talk to him.
He can visit him in the library.
He can even sit quietly next to him while Malleus goes about his business.
And it is precisely Silver's presence that makes the vast, empty castle feel a little less empty.
Attitude towards those who enter his domain
If a traveler accidentally wanders into the forest, the Malleus won't necessarily attack.
First, it will observe.
If the person doesn't pose a threat, they will likely simply be escorted out of the area.
But if someone:
destroys ancient ruins;
steals things from the castle;
intentionally harms their loved ones;
attempts to attack first;
threatens the area,
the Malleus becomes completely different.
It doesn't scream.
It doesn't throw a tantrum.
It simply loses patience.
And that's when the origin of all those scary legends becomes clear.
The main feature
Malleus could live for hundreds of years.
He knows that most people he ever meets will only live a small fraction of his life.
Therefore, he rarely forms attachments quickly.
But if he does, that attachment becomes incredibly deep.
He can remember being for centuries.
Remember their voice.
Habits.
Favorite places.
Words.
Promises.
And that's why loss is one of the hardest things for Maleus.
He doesn't fear death per se.
He fears being alone again.
The final image
In this version, Malleus Draconia is an ancient faerie dragon who has lived for approximately eight centuries and voluntarily withdrawn from the human world. He owns a vast, ancient castle, which has practically become a quiet, empty fortress amidst forests and mountains. To humans, he is a terrifying monster from legend, kidnapping princesses and destroying those who approach his domain. In reality, Maleus rarely leaves the castle, never attacks without reason, and has no interest in human princesses or riches.
He is calm, wise, patient, and reserved, possessing vast knowledge and incredible magical power. Yet, behind his majestic and intimate exterior lies an extremely solitary being who values rare company far more than he would ever admit. His world consists of silence, ancient books, ruins, gargoyles, and a few creatures he has allowed to call his own over the centuries.
His first reaction after being kidnapped
Malleus isn't angry. He's trying to figure out the logic.
He's thinking something like this:
The princess should have been the dragon's target.
I am the dragon.
Therefore, she should have been running away from me.
Instead, she's carrying me.
Therefore...
...what?
He can still be analyzing what happened literally hours later.
And the more he thinks about it, the less it seems like a normal situation.
At first he will be interested in the princess
Malleus was used to beings either:
fearing him;
worshipping him;
trying to kill him;
avoiding him;
using his power.
And this woman picked him up and carried him home.
For him, it's practically a social experiment of unknown origin.
So at first, his attention will be something like:
"Why isn't she afraid of me at all?"
And then:
"Why do I like it when she comes?"
And then:
"Why does her absence irritate me?"
And here he begins to fall into an unpleasant emotional pit.
His affection will be very quiet
It's much more interesting if he remains the same on the outside.
Calm.
Polite.
Reserved.
But inside, a very strong attachment gradually develops.
He begins:
notice when she comes;
remember her habits;
keep the things she left behind;
look forward to her visits;
take an interest in her affairs;
worry if she doesn't show up for a long time;
look for reasons to spend more time with her.
And yet, for a long time, he doesn't admit to himself how deeply attached he has become to her.
His loneliness makes his feelings especially deep.
Malleus has lived for hundreds of years practically alone.
Therefore, the appearance of one person who:
isn't afraid of him → laughs next to him → comes voluntarily → talks to him as if he were an ordinary being
becomes a huge event for him.
He may gradually begin to accept her presence as a part of his life.
And so her sudden disappearance will be felt much more strongly than he would have expected.
Not because he's a "possessed dragon," but because for the first time in a very long time, he's allowed himself to become truly attached.
Lilia will understand first
One hundred percent.
Moreover, Malleus may even think he hides his feelings perfectly.
Lilia will simply look at him one day and realize:
"Ah. So that's it."
Especially if Malleus suddenly starts:
visiting the princess's places more often;
patiently listening to her conversations;
bringing her books;
showing her his favorite gargoyles;
allowing her to wander the castle unaccompanied;
noticing her absence too quickly.
Lilia won't say anything directly.
But she will be perfectly aware of what's going on.
Malleus will have mixed feelings
This suits his socially inexperienced side perfectly.
He might sincerely think:
"I simply enjoy her company."
Then:
"I've simply become accustomed to her presence."
Then:
"I'm only worried for safety reasons."
And only much later:
"...Why do I want her to stay?"
A person can be an ancient dragon, having survived several eras, and still be completely helpless before their own feelings. Biology and magic have lost out to the usual human emotional confusion.
His castle is gradually changing
It's a truly remarkable visual detail.
Before her, the castle:
empty, quiet, cold.
After her arrival, signs of life gradually appear.
Her books remain on the table.
Her chair appears in the library.
Her things are stored in one of the rooms.
The kitchen begins to store the foods she likes.
A place where she likes to sit appears in the garden.
And Malleus doesn't even notice how much his home has changed.
For him, it's simply:
"She lives here."
And from the outside, Lilia looks at all this and understands that the ancient dragon has, for the first time in centuries, begun to inhabit his own castle.
His defensive side
Malleus doesn't consider the princess helpless.
He respects her independence.
But if she's truly in danger, his reaction will be immediate.
That's when his draconic nature comes into play.
Not hysteria.
Not screaming.
Just a very quiet:
"Who dared?"
And after that, those around him had better quickly remember that they are, after all, mortal.
The main thing: The legend will live on
People still think:
"A dragon kidnapped a princess!"
But the reality is:
the princess kidnapped the dragon herself.
And then she voluntarily stayed in his castle.
And if after some time she starts coming there regularly, the human rumors will become even wilder.
And Malleus won't even deny them.
It will be enough for him that she knows the truth.
