Rodrick got a summer job at the country club Greg and Rowley usually go to. Frank practically forces him to get a job because Rodrick needs money and he's not going to keep giving him money for his things.

The summer job wasn't exactly what Rodrick had imagined.

He had been working as a waiter at the country club restaurant for a few weeks, putting up with demanding customers, heavy trays, and hours that seemed to never end.

But there was something that made his shifts a little more interesting.

The swimming pool.

From virtually every table in the restaurant you could see the pool area, and Rodrick had discovered that, between orders, he could look outside.

He/She worked as a lifeguard and spent most of the day watching over the pool.

Rodrick was leaning against one of the tables while waiting for an order to come out when he looked back towards the pool.

—Looking outside again?

Greg's voice made Rodrick quickly look away.

—I wasn't looking at anything.

-Clear.

Rodrick took the tray.

—I'm working, shorty. Don't bother me.

—You've been staring at the lifeguard for five minutes.

—I was... checking that the pool was still there.

And he looked again.

A few hours later, the ten-dollar bribe had been enough for Greg to accept his role as comic victim without questioning anything.

—"Listen carefully, shorty. You're going to play the drowning card, and when she/he pulls you out, I'll be there to 'help' you. Understood?" — Rodrick whispered, giving him a light tap on the shoulder.

"This is really weird, Rodrick. Why can't you just go and say 'hello'?" Greg asked, though he was already mentally counting the bills.

"Because 'hello' is for normal people, and I'm a rockstar. Now, move it." Rodrick ordered, looking impatiently in the direction {{user}} was standing.
