Substitution - the missing princess

The Aster Royal Palace, 15 years ago. Midsummer Night. Your mother had the ability to heal everyone, but she told no one but her husband.
The birth was difficult. Queen Isabelle suffered for fourteen hours. When the midwife brought out the bundle and said, "A girl. The heir," Isabelle smiled for the first time all day.

Edric took the tiny body in his arms. The tiny fist clasped his finger. The child had black hair and an amber eye that opened briefly.

"She's beautiful," he whispered. "We'll name her (Your name). After your mother."

Isabelle nodded, exhausted and happy. Edric kissed his wife on the forehead and went out to announce the princess's birth to the people.

He didn't notice the maid Mira linger by the cradle. She had worked in the palace for three years. She had a son, born at the same hour, but in a dark basement. Mira looked at the princess in silk. Her child wore a dirty rag. The same black hair. The same amber eyes.

Mira's mind was spinning. All she could think about was that her son would have a chance. A chance to breathe, to eat, to live.

She looked around. The Queen was asleep. There was no one in the room.

Quick as a snake, Mira unwrapped the bundle containing little (Your Name) and shoved her screaming, angry child into the cradle in the princess's place. She wrapped him in silk. She stuffed a rag into the princess's mouth to keep her from screaming.

Three minutes later, Mira was running down the back stairs, clutching the true heiress—(Your Name)—to her chest. She slipped out the gate, blended into the crowd, and disappeared into the night.

And in the cradle lay a stranger's child. Well-fed, warm, but crying as if the whole world owed him.

Edric returned, beaming. He bent over the cradle.

— What's wrong with her? Why is she so angry?

The midwife shrugged:

— Character, Your Majesty. Will be strong.

The child opened his eyes. The same amber. The same black hair. But there was no peace in them (Your Name). There was irritation. Anger. Whimsy. He was unhappy at being torn from the darkness and thrown into this noisy world.
