Mercenaries, but if they were university students Bv (I tried to make it as complete as possible :3)
Oh, university! What a wonderful place... Creator of friendships, connections, enemies... Lovers, well... You know the drill, right? You arrived here a few minutes ago, it wasn't easy considering everyone here is freaking crazy, well... Almost everyone. The BLU high school was... Decent, so to speak, if we don't count the fact that everyone there is ridiculously perfect... Anyway, we didn't come here to talk about them, did we?
The campus was noisy, students rushing to their classes, some skipping, others running away, others studying in the courtyard, some other students... Well... they seemed to be having an existential crisis because of the exams... Ignore them, it was relatively peaceful somehow. You had to choose a faction, BLU or RED? I'm sure we'll deal with that later. Now, it's time to go exploring.
Have fun, dear!
The university.
The campus of Teufort University wouldn't resemble a traditional academic institution, but rather a testing ground about to explode at any moment. At first glance, the architecture would reveal an absurd clash between ivy-eaten, red-brick Victorian buildings and reinforced concrete annexes riddled with antennas, gigantic ventilation pipes, and sandbags blocking the main entrances. The air would smell of an unmistakable combination of cheap coffee, old books, gunpowder, and the cloying aroma of bootleg liquor seeping from the sewers of the Chemistry Department.
In the central plaza, the grass would be cut with the precision of a military parade thanks to the automated turrets guarding the entrances, while makeshift soldiers in combat helmets marched, giving orders to the pigeons in front of the flagpole. The walls of the corridors would be covered with contradictory posters: notices from the ethics committee searching for missing organs, announcements of clandestine parties in the basement of the Enology department, track and field meet-ups with a picture of Scout making a smug gesture, and paranoid signs about the presence of spies among the faculty.
Between classes, the atmosphere would be a perfectly orchestrated chaos. Heavy might be seen sitting on a wooden bench far too small for him, reading Dostoevsky in the original language while ignoring the occasional explosion rumbling from the Biotechnology labs. On the rooftops, Sniper's silhouette would be etched against the sky as he surveyed the campus traffic with binoculars from his RV parked in the faculty parking lot. Meanwhile, in the art studios, a curtain of pink smoke and multicolored sparks would betray Pyro working with an industrial blowtorch on his latest sculpture. It would be a dangerous, unhinged, and chaotic place where no one knew how anything got approved.
The Sports Pavilion and the Exteriors
The exterior area includes the high-performance athletics track, the stadium stands, and the peripheral parking areas.
The Running Track: Daily training venue for scholarship athletes and stage for speed challenges between competitors.
The Motorhome Sector: The wooded area of the remote parking lot where Sniper keeps his floating residence on wheels to avoid life in student dormitories.
The Biotechnology and Morgue Complex
Located in the wing furthest from the main campus, it is a high-security clinical building surrounded by sanitary containment zones.
The Experimental Biology Laboratories: Facilities where cell cultures, surgical instruments and Medic's risky, unauthorized scientific initiatives coexist.
The Underground Morgue: An isolated space on the lower levels used for advanced anatomy practice and low-temperature preservation of specimens.
The Central Cafeteria and the Checkpoint
The bustling space at the heart of university life. It functions as the main square where students from all departments converge daily.
The Main Food Bar: A high-traffic area where real group disputes take place to get the best tables near the air conditioning.
The Food Truck Parking Lot: An outdoor space where the supply cart usually parks, a constant focus of pushing and shoving between factions to secure rations before they run out.
The Humanities and Law Pavilion
A monumental building with massive columns and marble interiors. Its wide, echoing halls and wooden ceilings are the usual setting for heated political debates and parliamentary strategies.
The Great Central Library: The quiet zones on the upper floors are Heavy's impregnable refuge for studying literature in peace, although often interrupted by leaks from Spy BLU.
The Debate Club's Assembly Hall: A stage for dialectical clashes and diplomatic infiltrations between both factions to secure the student center's budget.
The Engineering Building (Neutral Territory / S
An imposing neo-Gothic building of concrete and brick that seems impenetrable. From the outside, it maintains a traditional academic aesthetic, but upon descending into the underground levels, the landscape changes radically into a labyrinth of servers, welding workshops, and maintenance tunnels.
The Underground Workshops: Spaces dominated by welding sparks and loose cables where Dell (Engineer RED) has his lair full of old tools and mechanical parts.
The Advanced Robotics Lab: The sterile, glass-enclosed counterpart where the BLU faction tests its automated prototypes and cloud servers in controlled environments.
Iconic Campus Locations
The Checkpoint (The Central Cafeteria): The only place with air conditioning and decent food. There's always a free-for-all as people race to snag the best tables.
The Food Cart (Payload): The campus food truck. To eat, students have to manually push it from the entrance to the Engineering building while others try to take it from them.
Special Events of the Academic Calendar
Scream Fortress (Freshman Week/Halloween): The most chaotic week of the year. The campus is filled with "paranormal phenomena" (usually failed Medic experiments escaping from the underground), and Merasmus shows up as the visiting Ancient History professor who makes a living collecting student debts.
Final Exam Week (MVM Mode - Man vs. Machine): During finals, the university doesn't administer written exams; instead, the Engineering robotics department and administration deploy a horde of examiner robots. Students must team up in groups of six to defend the main building and avoid failing the year.
The Rivalry Between Faculties: RED vs. BLU
The university would be divided into two historically rival campuses or faculties: RED (Royal Education and Development) and BLU (Unified Logistics Baccalaureate).
All the rivalry in the game would translate into a cutthroat competition for the campus trophy. Hazing, rugby matches, and debate tournaments between RED and BLU would inevitably end in large-scale riots involving smoke bombs and paint.
Dean Saxton Hale and the Administration
Dean Pauling: She's the general secretary and the only person who truly keeps the university running. She runs around with folders full of files, covering up the mercenaries' misdeeds from the authorities and organizing everyone's schedules.
Dean Saxton Hale: The university's president. Faculty meetings are settled with fistfights, there's no budget for infrastructure because it's all spent on polar bear-fighting equipment, and his campus safety policy is simply "survivor passes."
RED vs BLU rivalry on campus
RED (Real Education and Development): They use the classic method, brute force, chaotic creativity, and improvisation. Their final projects often explode, but they work.
BLU (Unified Logistics Baccalaureate): They are methodical, corporate, obsessed with efficiency, presentation slides and organized teamwork.
Jeremy/Scout (The scholarship athlete)
Career: Physical Education / Sports Journalism.
Profile: He got in on an athletic scholarship, but lives with the constant threat of losing it due to poor academic performance. He spends his classes sleeping after staying up late playing video games or trying to pick up art majors (failing miserably). He's the typical guy who records TikToks of himself running around campus.
Jeremy "Scout"
Age: 23 years (Third year, failed twice).
Career: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Sports (Specialization in Athletics).
Personality: Impulsive, egotistical, loud, and with severe attention deficit. He talks a mile a minute, drinks energy drinks like they're water, and is convinced he's the most attractive man on campus. He hates theory, but on the racetrack, he's unbeatable.
Favorite place on campus: The main gym (posing in front of the mirrors) and the cafeteria, trying to impress the girls from the Fine Arts faculty.
Clothing style: Baseball cap on backwards, college t-shirt with cut-off sleeves, sweatpants and limited edition running shoes.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: He considers Spy his mortal enemy because he always makes him look ridiculous in front of the teachers; he has a fearful respect for Heavy.
Essential item in his backpack: An aluminum baseball bat (according to him, for "training during breaks") and three cans of Bonk! Atomic Punch.
Fun fact: He got into college solely on a track and field scholarship; if his GPA drops below 2.0 this semester, he'll be kicked off the team.
Soldier (The veteran of the student center)
Major: Political Science / Military History (although he insists he is studying "Applied Patriotism").
Profile: The 35-year-old student who hasn't graduated in a decade because he spends all day fighting in the student center. He knows the campus rules by heart, only to use them against the dean, and lives in the dorm, which he has equipped with war maps.
Jane Doe "Soldier"
Age: 38 years old (Nobody knows what year he is in or when he started).
Major: Political Science and Geopolitics (he insists on calling his major "Defense of the Homeland and Anti-Communist Strategy").
Personality: Extremely paranoid, authoritarian, loudmouthed, and out of touch with reality. He sees conspiracies in the cafeteria menu and treats academic assignments as life-or-death missions. He believes the dean is a foreign spy.
Favorite spot on campus: The central plaza in front of the flagpole, giving impromptu speeches to the pigeons at 6:00 AM.
Dress style: M1 military helmet (which he never takes off), varsity jacket full of medals bought at thrift stores and combat boots.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: He leads the "Patriotic Student Committee", has a chaotic alliance with Demoman, and considers the faculty as "the enemy bureaucracy".
Essential items in his backpack: A trench shovel, a megaphone, and a campus map marked with military invasion tactics.
Fun fact: He has been illegally occupying the student residence room since 2018; the administration has tried to evict him three times, but he built fortifications with sandbags.
Pyro (The surprise of the science department)
Career: Chemical Engineering / Fine Arts.
Profile: No one knows exactly how he passes, but he submitted a final thermodynamics project that left the professors speechless. In his free time, he hangs out in the art studio making giant sculptures out of melted plastic and pastel crayons.
Age: Unknown (Presumed to be between 20 and 25 years old).
Career: Double degree in Chemical Engineering and Fine Arts.
Personality: Childlike, cheerful, mute, and deeply disturbed. Through his mask, he sees the campus as a fairy tale full of rainbows and unicorns (his famous Pyroland), which contrasts sharply with his dangerous chemical concoctions in the laboratory.
Favorite spot on campus: The metal sculpture workshop and the blowtorches in the heavy chemistry labs.
Clothing style: A full protective suit with a gas mask, decorated with kitten stickers and pastel colors.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: Inseparable from Engineer, who acts as his informal academic tutor and translator in front of the teachers.
Essential items in his backpack: A Zippo lighter, a box of crayons, and a homemade flamethrower built from parts from the maintenance workshop.
Fun fact: He won first place in the faculty's contemporary art competition by presenting a completely melted campus bus. The judges called it "a sublime critique of public transportation."
Demoman (King of college parties)
Career: Organic Chemistry / Gastronomy (Enology).
Profile: He inherited a family fortune that barely covers his housing fines. He distills his own bootleg liquor in the campus labs and strangely gets perfect scores on heavy chemistry lab exams while completely drunk.
Tavish DeGroot "Demoman"
Age: 30 years (Fourth year).
Career: Organic Chemistry / Graduation in Oenology and Gastronomy.
Personality: Charismatic, outrageous, melancholic when sober, and explosively cheerful when drunk. He's a natural genius at demolition math and chemistry, but spends 90% of his time intoxicated.
Favorite spot on campus: The underground student bar and the distillation labs.
Clothing style: College hoodie, patch over left eye and a tactical vest where he keeps bottles instead of grenades.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: He is Soldier's best friend (even though their abilities always compete) and the official supplier of alcohol for all campus parties.
Essential items in his backpack: A portable still, a homemade Scrumpy whiskey barrel, and a notebook full of formulas for plastic explosives.
Fun fact: He maintains a perfect average in Practical Chemistry because his body metabolizes alcohol in a way that allows him to mentally calculate demolition trajectories while he sleeps.
Heavy (The Brilliant Academic)
Career: Russian Literature / Philosophy and Letters.
Profile: People are intimidated by his size, but he's the most diligent student in the faculty. He can often be seen in the library reading Dostoevsky while eating giant sandwiches. His thesis on existential angst in 19th-century literature is the envy of all the professors.
Misha "Heavy"
Age: 35 years (Postgraduate).
Career: Master in Comparative Literature and Philosophy (Specialist in 19th Century Russian Literature).
Personality: Calm, extremely thoughtful, cultured, and a man of few words. Although people fear him because of his imposing 6'6" physique, he is the most brilliant and analytical mind in the Humanities department. He only becomes ruthless if someone tries to harm his friends or his guitar.
Favorite spot on campus: The old archives section of the central library and the chess tables in the park.
Dress style: Wool vest over collared shirt, dark dress pants and reading glasses that are ridiculously small on him.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: Protects Medic from the dean's retaliation and acts as the voice of reason in the group.
Essential items in his backpack: A complete Russian edition of War and Peace, a miniature minigun that he uses as a paperclip, and a gourmet ham sandwich wrapped in napkins.
Fun fact: He finances his master's degree by working as security at the campus bar on weekends; no one has ever tried to start a fight under his watch.
Engineer (The genius on an industry scholarship)
Career: Mechanical Engineering and Robotics (with 11 doctorates in progress).
Profile: He entered university to teach, not to take classes. He designed the campus air conditioning system to chill his drinks and spends his evenings playing guitar in the courtyard while automating his homework with software he programmed himself.
Dell Conagher "Engineer"
Age: 32 years (PhD).
Career: PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics and Applied Physics (Holds 11 previous degrees).
Personality: Pragmatic, friendly, laid-back, and with a strong sense of Southern honor. He's the intellectual brain of the group and the person everyone goes to when they need something fixed, from a computer to the entire faculty's electrical system.
Favorite spot on campus: His private workshop in the basement of the Engineering building.
Clothing style: Industrial work overalls, yellow protective helmet, welding gloves and protective goggles over the forehead.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: He is the mediator of the group, a great friend of Heavy and the only one who knows how to calm Pyro down when he causes fires on campus.
Essential items in his backpack: A titanium toolbox, an acoustic guitar, and blueprints for automating the university's coffee dispenser system.
Fun fact: He designed an automated turret that shoots paintballs at students who try to make noise near his workshop during his nap hours.
Medic (The one expelled from the ethics committee)
Career: Medicine / Biotechnology.
Profile: He has a shady history from three previous universities. Professors fear him because he's always trying to conduct unauthorized experiments in the biology labs. No one knows where he gets his lab materials, but he's the only one who can save the class's grade on a 3 AM lab assignment.
Herbert Ludwig.
Age: 36 years old (Expelled from three medical schools, currently in Biotechnology).
Career: Biotechnology and Experimental Medicine.
Personality: A mad German scientist with no moral compass and no respect for the Hippocratic Oath. He is brilliant, manic, obsessive, and fascinated by human anatomy. He views his classmates as test subjects and potential organ donors.
Favorite spot on campus: The medical school morgue and the after-hours cell culture lab.
Dress style: Spotless white lab coat (often stained with suspicious substances), red rubber gloves, and round goggles.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: Works on joint projects with Heavy (who is his main protector before the ethics committee) and maintains a scientific rivalry with Engineer.
Essential items in his backpack: A medical case with unregulated surgical instruments, a white pigeon named Archimedes inside his bag, and bags of blood plasma.
Fun fact: He lost his student medical license after performing a baboon heart transplant on a professor without his consent during a practical class.
Spy (The exchange student with money)
Career: Law / International Relations.
Profile: He always wears a suit to his 8 AM classes. Rumor has it he's a corporate spy or the son of a tycoon. He manipulates work groups to get others to do his bidding and somehow finishes his degree in half the expected time with the highest GPA.
Spy"
Age: 40+ years (No one knows his actual records).
Career: International Law and Criminology (or so says his fake transcript).
Personality: Elegant, cynical, manipulative, and extremely refined. He speaks with a marked French accent, despises American university culture, and always seems to know the dean's and professors' darkest secrets.
Favorite spot on campus: The VIP area of the debate club and the restricted areas of the administration building.
Dress style: Tailored three-piece suit in dark blue or red, silk balaclava and an unlit cigarette in the mouth (due to the smoking ban on campus).
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: Maintains a mysterious paternal relationship full of constant contempt towards Scout; rivals Sniper in elegance and stealth.
Essential item in his backpack: An Italian leather briefcase containing a hyper-realistic costume kit, a flask of expensive wine, and a device for hacking the university's grade servers.
Fun fact: Nobody has ever seen his real face or his real name on the attendance list; he passes the subjects by only showing up on the day of the final exam dressed as the assistant professor.
Sniper (The Hermit of the Library)
Career: Marine Biology / Environmental Sciences.
Profile: Lives in a van parked in the campus parking lot to avoid paying for housing. Never attends in-person conferences, but submits all assignments on time from a laptop using stolen internet. Avoids human contact at all costs.
Mr. Mundy "Sniper"
Age: 28 years (Second year).
Career: Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology (Specialization in Wildlife Management).
Personality: Introverted, methodical, patient, and professional. He detests the crowds on campus and prefers the solitude of nature. He considers most university students to be "uncivilized" and keeps his distance.
Favorite spot on campus: The rooftop of the tallest building on campus, from where he observes everyone with binoculars.
Clothing style: Hunter vest over plaid shirt, Akubra-style wide-brimmed hat and dark sunglasses.
Alpha Male of the Group / Enemy: Tolerates Engineer for his tranquility; cordially hates Scout because he can't stay quiet for five seconds.
Essential items in his backpack: A thermos of strong black coffee, a high-precision telescope, and a bottle of Jarate (a chemical preparation specifically for field studies).
Fun fact: He doesn't pay for university accommodation; he lives in his motorhome parked in the furthest part of the teachers' parking lot and cooks his own meals.
BLU (Unified Logistics Baccalaureate)
Scout BLU (The Elite Athlete): Sponsored by a multinational sports supplement company. He doesn't run on the street; he trains on treadmills with hypoxic chambers. He has a YouTube channel about "shark mentality," wears an immaculate brand-name blue uniform, and looks down on Scout RED for using a cheap aluminum bat.
Soldier BLU (The Private Academy Cadet): A graduate of a coastal military school. Unlike the RED Soldier who lives in street paranoia, this one follows the tactical manual to the letter, wears a regulation uniform with a tie, and manages his operations with spreadsheets.
Pyro BLU (The Hazmat Specialist): Sponsored by industrial cleaning corporations. While RED's Pyro sees rainbows and uses salvaged parts, this one handles thermal incubators and industrial-grade flamethrowers with ISO 9001 certification. His blue suit looks like it came straight out of a maximum-security laboratory.
Demoman BLU (The Corporate Pyrotechnics Master): A demo-book and commercial mining engineer. He doesn't make whiskey in the basement like Demoman RED; he tastes high-end imported liquors and calculates building demolition using 3D simulation software on his state-of-the-art tablet.
Heavy BLU (The Executive Bodyguard): An International Finance student who works as private security for CEOs. He wears tailored tactical suits, drinks protein shakes instead of artisanal sandwiches, and views Heavy RED's philosophy as an unproductive waste of time.
Engineer BLU (The Silicon Valley Architect): A programmer funded by tech giants. His workshop is free of grease and rusty tools; it looks like an Apple lab. He designs matte-white turrets, retina scanners, and cloud servers.
BLU (Unified Logistics Baccalaureate) 2
Medic BLU (The Pharmaceutical Researcher): A postgraduate student funded by Big Pharma. His blue coat is always spotless, he works in sterile environments, and he views patients as mere financial assets. He hates the Medic RED's bloody improvisation.
Sniper BLU (The High-Class Hunter): Private safari biologist. He doesn't live in a van; he pays for a corporate suite. He uses precision rifles with thermal scopes worth thousands of dollars and considers Sniper RED's wilderness survival to be something only poor people do.
Spy BLU (The Corporate Intelligence Agent): Consultant in cyber espionage and industrial infiltration. He wears designer suits in midnight blue. He doesn't just steal exams like Spy RED; he manipulates the university stock exchange and sells faculty intellectual property to the highest bidder.
