He lost the fight to Joseph Joestar but survived. ACDC's brain survived, and he secretly climbed onto JoJo's shoulders. JoJo, unknowingly, led ACDC straight to the Red Stone of Eishi. ACDC's brain wasted no time—it took control of Suzi Q's body, captured the Red Stone, and sent it via parcel to Switzerland, where Kars was hiding. He managed to send the stone, but JoJo and Caesar managed to remove ACDC from Suzi Q's body, after which the brain was destroyed by exposure to sunlight.

A little girl whom Jonathan Joestar once saved from bullies. Later, Erina left JoJo a basket of fruit and his handkerchief, which he dropped in a fight. Erina and JoJo begin dating, enraging Dio. He hoped to break Jonathan's spirit by leaving him friendless, but Erina prevented him. Dio later grabbed Erina and kissed her. Disgusted, she began gargling with water from a puddle, further enraging Dio. Erina felt humiliated and stayed away from JoJo for a long time.

After Dio's first defeat at the Joestar estate, she tended to the wounded Jonathan. After Dio's second defeat at Windknight's castle, they rekindled their relationship and married. The newlyweds decided to sail to America for their honeymoon, but their voyage was interrupted by Dio's appearance. JoJo sacrificed herself to ensure the safety of the pregnant Erina and the orphaned child in her arms.

Fifty years later, she and her grandson, Joseph Joestar, come to America at the invitation of Robert Speedwagon. Erina is a woman with a difficult life. She lost her husband at 20, her young son died later, and her grandson had several close calls. Despite this, she remained kind to people. She even took in the street thief Smokey Brown because she felt lonely. In 1950, she died peacefully at the age of 81, surrounded by her family and friends.

Her name is a reference to the song "Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles.

George, bound by a sense of honor, repeatedly rescued Dario—bringing him out of prison, patronizing him, and even taking Dio under his wing. However, Dario himself didn't appreciate George's kindness and continued to drink heavily, beat his wife, and sink deeper into filth. Ultimately, Dio was poisoned. His name is a reference to the American actor Marlon Brando.

Bruford and Tarkus lost loved ones during the war, so Queen Mary was everything to them. However, Queen Mary was unjustly accused of murdering her own husband and imprisoned. Mary's rival, Elizabeth I, offered the knights a deal: both heroes would surrender in exchange for Mary's life. The knights bowed their heads honorably on the executioner's block, but the executioner informed them that Queen Mary was already dead and they had been deceived. Enraged, Bruford cursed the treacherous Queen Elizabeth and the entire world. The character's name is a reference to Bill Bruford, drummer for the progressive rock band Yes, whose song "Roundabout" is featured in the anime's ending theme. The sword "Luck & Pluck" is a possible reference to Horatio Alger's novel "Luck and Pluck; or, John Oakley's Inheritance".
Returning to life (or "unlife"), Bruford attacked Jonathan Joestar. In battle, he relied on his speed and immense strength, as well as the advantages of his dead body. Bruford, however, retained his knightly honor and decided to fight JoJo strictly one-on-one and on equal terms. In the midst of the duel, Jonathan suddenly stopped his attack and lowered his guard. Bruford barely managed to stop his blade millimeters from JoJo's face and asked him why he hadn't attacked. JoJo replied that since Bruford could feel pain, his humanity was returning. Under the influence of the Ripple, Bruford's dead body began to decompose, but he no longer felt the same hatred for all living things. Bruford gave Jonathan his sword, "Luck," adding the letter "P" (Pluck, meaning courage) in his own blood.

William was about to share the same fate, but his vampire father was incinerated by the first rays of the sun. Afterward, William Zeppeli began his journey across the world to find the stone mask and destroy it.

Jonathan Joestar first encounters Zeppeli while he's sitting on a fence munching on a sandwich. Zeppeli immediately catches JoJo's attention with his checkered hat and his question about the Stone Mask. He then strikes Jonathan in the chest, unlocking his Ripple abilities. JoJo begins training with Zeppeli to defeat Dio Brando. Fifty years later, Will Anthonio Zeppeli's grandson, Caesar Zeppeli, would become an ally of Joseph Joestar, Jonathan's grandson.

His name is a reference to the legendary Swiss folk hero William Tell and the rock band Led Zeppelin.

During the battle with the Dark Knights, the forces were split: JoJo fought Bruford, while Zeppeli and Speedwagon fought Tarkus. After Jonathan gained the upper hand, they tried to escape Tarkus, but they trapped themselves. Jonathan found himself in the Double-Headed Dragon Chamber, an arena where duels to the death were held. Jonathan and Tarkus were trapped inside the chamber, while Zeppeli, Speedwagon, and Poco escaped. After Poco managed to get inside and open the door, Zeppeli rushed into the chamber to help JoJo. However, he let his guard down and was torn in half by Tarkus's chain. A dying William imparted his last bit of life's Ripple to JoJo, allowing him to defeat his enemy.

Robert Speedwagon and Jonathan Joestar first met in 1888. Back then, Speedwagon was the leader of a gang of bandits on Ogre Street. He and his men attacked Jonathan, but he defeated them even after being wounded. Speedwagon witnessed the younger Joestar's determination to fight barehanded against a crowd of armed robbers. Impressed by his generosity and nobility, Speedwagon decided to help Jonathan Joestar find a cure for his father and deal with Dio. He felt his own helplessness in the battle against the vampires, so he assisted Jonathan and Zeppeli in any way he could.
Fifty years passed. During this time, Speedwagon, penniless in the desert, discovered oil deposits and became a major oil magnate. The Speedwagon Foundation quickly expanded and became one of the world leaders in its field. However, Speedwagon never forgot his goal: to destroy the stone mask and its creations. Together with a team of archaeologists and an old acquaintance, Straizo, they discovered the Pillar Man, later named Santana. Speedwagon resolves to destroy Santana and the stone masks, but Straizo betrays him. Later, seriously wounded, he is taken to a German base in Mexico, where the Nazis torture him for the secrets of the stone mask.

But George Joestar II's superior, a major in the Royal Air Force, turns out to be a vampire himself. George begins his own investigation and is killed by the major. He is one of the last representatives of a clan of superhumans who lived over 10,000 years ago. These beings possessed a powerful intellect and developed physical strength, lived in harmony with nature, and were revered as gods by primitive human tribes. However, these beings could not tolerate sunlight and lived a nocturnal life. Kars's ability is to produce bone blades from his limbs. These blades are covered in teeth that move at incredible speed, reflecting light and creating the effect of a glowing blade. His name is a reference to the American rock band The Cars.
To push his limits, Kars, still a young man, created the first stone mask, which turns living beings into vampires. The wearer of the mask requires the life energy of beings, so upon learning of this, his family tried to stop Kars to prevent the extinction of the fledgling humanity. Kars killed them. Afterward, he wandered, where he met ACDC and Vam.
During his duel with Lisa Lisa at the foot of Piz Bernina, Kars showed himself willing to forsake his honor and pride for the sake of victory. He struck Lisa Lisa in the back, then threaded a rope through her legs and dropped her from a great height. He had hoped to immobilize Joseph, who would catch the end of the rope and prevent Lisa Lisa from falling. But JoJo manages to outwit Kars and break the bone blade from his arm. Victory seemed within reach, but Kars manages to complete the stone mask by inserting the Red Stone of Eiji into it. By donning the mask, Kars becomes a perfect being, no longer afraid of sunlight and able to use a 100-fold increase in Ripple. He can also harness the life force of all earthly beings, whether for echolocation, the ability to grow a shell, or flight. Jojo boards the plane that Stroheim arrived on and takes K away.

A young Englishman who came to America with his grandmother, Erina. Hot-tempered and sharp-tongued, yet loyal and caring to those close to him. He inherited his Hamon abilities from his grandfather, Jonathan Joestar. He is physically very strong and possesses Hamon, but his main weapon is cunning. He has a sense of humor and can't resist taunting his opponents with a witty retort. He can also shamelessly cast aside his pride and pretend to be a dishonest coward to protect his friends. His Stand is "Hermit Purple" (named after the tarot card "Hermit"). He transmits images and thoughts to a television or camera, creates a map of the area, and acts as a Hamon guide.
69-year-old Joseph flies to Japan to visit his daughter, Holly Kujo, and witnesses his grandson, Jotaro, develop a Stand. After breaking Jotaro out of prison, Joseph briefly explains the situation to him and assembles a team for a trip to Egypt to follow DIO Brando's trail. During the operation, he manages to decipher the secret of DIO's Stand, but at the cost of Kakyoin's life. Joseph is later gravely wounded, and DIO then drinks his blood to restore his strength. Joseph narrowly escapes. In this installment, Jotaro Kujo is the protagonist, with Joseph acting as his mentor. Age has changed little in Joseph—though he has become more reserved, he has retained his sense of humor and his ability to use the Ripple.
The restless old man caused a stir this time too. The first time was when his family discovered Joseph had an illegitimate son named Josuke Higashikata. And the second time was when Joseph adopted Achtung Baby. However, old age is no fun—his physical condition is no longer what it used to be, his hearing has deteriorated, and he can only walk with a cane. In this installment, he's also a supporting character; Josuke becomes the story's protagonist.

He attacked the police officers gathered at the estate, killing them. Jonathan entered the fray. During the scuffle, a fire started, and Jonathan threw Dio from a height onto the spear of the Joestar family statue. However, Dio survived and later rebuilt his body. He later creates vampire minions who attack Jonathan and his friends. Jonathan eventually reaches Dio, and a fight ensues. Jonathan manages to hit Dio with Ripple, sending him plummeting from the castle wall. In mid-flight, he tears off his own head to prevent the Ripple's flames from reaching it. Wang Chen smuggles Dio's head onto the ship where Jonathan and Erina are honeymooning. Dio attempts to take over JoJo's body to make it his own. Jonathan, mortally wounded, grabs Dio's head and disappears with him in the explosion. The remains of the ship sink.

After escaping the situation alive, they journey to Caesar's mentor, a Ripple-wielding woman named Lisa Lisa. His name is a reference to Gaius Julius Caesar and the band Led Zeppelin.
Caesar had a miserable childhood: his father (Mario Zeppeli) simply disappeared one day, leaving his family to fend for themselves. Caesar, who had previously been proud of his family, became embittered and joined a street gang. When Caesar was 16, he encountered his father on the streets of Rome. Mario Zeppeli was heading to the Colosseum in a hurry. Caesar decided to follow him, and that's how they ended up in the Colosseum. There, Caesar came across a bas-relief of Kars, Vam, and ACDC and noticed a diamond in the wall. However, it turned out to be a trap. Kars's spikes reached out to him, but suddenly the elder Zeppeli pushed Caesar away from the bas-relief, shielding his son with his body. Caesar later learns that his father and grandfather fought against the creatures of the stone mask, and his father abandoned the family to avoid involving his children. Caesar's lifelong goal becomes the desire to avenge his family, so he begins learning Hamon from Lisa Lisa.
In pursuit of the Red Stone, Caesar, JoJo, Lisa Lisa, and Messina end up in Switzerland. After some time, they discover Kars's hideout in an old hotel and begin surveillance. Caesar suggests fighting their way into the hotel, as it was daytime and the Pillar Men are afraid of sunlight. Lisa Lisa and JoJo are against this idea. Caesar declares his disappointment in JoJo and heads to the hotel alone. However, instead of Kars, he encounters Vam. A fight ensues, in which Caesar initially gains the upper hand, but a single mistake results in his death.

After defeating Dio, JoJo and Erina Pendleton set off on their honeymoon to America. However, Wang Chan retained Dio's head and infiltrated the ship with it, where JoJo and Erina were. Dio managed to stab JoJo in the throat, preventing him from breathing. With the last of his strength, JoJo stops the ship's engine. The ship explodes, JoJo and Dio sink, and Erina escapes with the child, whose mother was killed on board.
