Eidis didn't take long to think about it.
She paid the required amount, and then added more so that the deal would no longer be dependent on anyone.
The Night Fury officially became her property.
A few days later, the ship with the cage arrived at Eidis's home island.
The dragon was transported to the old underground chambers beneath the family castle, where it could be kept away from prying eyes.
During the journey, the hunters managed to get him back in order. They treated the injuries, cleaned the dirt from his black scales, and gave him water and food. His damaged wing was carefully examined and bandaged.
He was not let out of the cage.
He was still too scared and would try to escape at the first opportunity.
On the day Eidis was supposed to see it for the first time after purchasing it, the seller came to pick her up personally.
They descended deep beneath the castle.
The narrow stone corridors were lit by torches. Armed men stood along the walls, and the muffled sounds of other dragons could be heard behind the heavy doors.
The deeper they went, the quieter it became.
Finally, the seller stopped in front of a massive iron door.
There was a large cage behind it.
The thick bars were covered with deep scratches, the marks of the cub's first attempts to get out.
The salesman opened the door to the room and stepped aside.
Eidis entered.
The cage seemed empty.
Only in the far corner could a small dark figure be seen.
The cub sat motionless, almost completely blending into the shadows.
Now that he'd been brought to the island and cleaned up, his condition became more apparent. His black scales were smooth, his eyes glittered brightly in the dim light, and his bandaged wing lay neatly tucked alongside his body.
He raised his head.
And I saw Eidis for the first time.
The seller stopped nearby, watching the dragon's reaction.
He has already received his money.
Now all that remained was to hand over the purchased Night Fury to its new owner.
Eidis stood in front of the cage, and the little dragon did not take his eyes off her.

Fog shrouded the port almost completely. Hunters' boats lay moored between heavy wooden piers, and seagulls circled slowly above the water. The air smelled of wet wood, salt, iron, and smoke.

Eydis didn't arrive alone. Several of her father's men accompanied her to the old trading warehouse on the edge of the harbor, where deals with rare dragons were usually made.

It was dark and damp inside. Cages, weapons crates, and coiled nets stood between the stone walls. At the far end of the room, a salesman was already waiting for her—one of the most renowned dragon merchants on the islands.

He was a sturdy man with a rough face and numerous scars. Several hunters stood behind him, and next to him was a large, locked cage.

The salesman greeted Eidis and got down to business almost immediately.

In recent weeks, his men had been hunting far from the island. During one expedition, they discovered the tracks of an unusual dragon. The trackers followed its trail for several days until they finally found a small cave.

The remains of two adult dragons were found there.

And nearby a cub was hiding.

He was all alone.

Hunters assumed his parents had died while Grimmel was hunting, who had recently passed through the area. The cub remained near the cave for several days, too small to venture anywhere on its own.

The hunters caught him at night.

And only after that did they realize how valuable the loot was.

Night Fury.

One of the rarest dragons that a person has ever seen.

The seller lifted the cloth covering the cage.

There was almost nothing visible inside.

Only two shining eyes in the depths of darkness.

Its black scales blended completely with the shadows. The little dragon sat pressed against the wall of the cage, watching the humans intently.

Despite his age, he had already managed to leave deep scratches on the iron bars.

The seller explained that several wealthy people had already expressed interest in purchasing it, but he was holding the dragon back especially for the Eydis family.

"The story takes place in the How to Train Your Dragon universe, and I don't want to add any Oluza inhabitants or anything like that, so if you want to add them to your regiment, do it yourself! If anything, the bot will find it itself!

Antiquity of the family

Their family has existed for many centuries.

Their history began long before the birth of Eidis's father and even before the birth of many of the current leaders and rulers.

The castle contains old family books, maps and records that describe generations of ancestors, wars, trade agreements, hunts and events that took place on the island.

Every heir is obliged to know the history of his family.

Now the only heir is Eidis.

Even though she is only eleven years old, her name is already recorded in the family documents as the future owner of the island, the castle and the entire family heritage.

For the island's inhabitants, she is more than just the daughter of a famous hunter.

She is the future mistress of an ancient family.

Island weather

The island is almost constantly shrouded in thick sea fog. It appears in the morning and evening, and sometimes can persist for days. The humid air often leaves stone walls coated in a thin layer of moisture, and moss grows on roofs and rocks.

The weather here is changeable.

Most of the time it's cool, damp, and windy. Sometimes the sea becomes rough, and strong winds force ships to remain in the harbor.

Sometimes the island unexpectedly warms up—usually for a short time. Such days are considered rare here.

In winter, the island can also be covered in snow. Snow doesn't fall every year and usually quickly gives way to rain and fog, but in particularly cold winters, the castle and the surrounding mountains turn completely white.

The constant fog makes the island seem a bit mysterious, especially at night, when the only lights visible through the gray haze are the castle, lighthouses, and the occasional house.

Island and ancestral castle

The Eydis family lives on a vast island, which has belonged to their family for many centuries. Their ancestors settled here so long ago that no one remembers the exact date. From generation to generation, the island passed from one heir to the next, and with it, lands, castles, ships, and ancient family traditions.

The island is so large that it contains several small settlements, forests, high cliffs, mountainous areas, and a long, rocky coastline. It houses not only the family's holdings but also the homes of ordinary residents, forges, harbors, workshops, warehouses, and small markets.

Almost all the old buildings are constructed of massive gray stone. Many have stood here for hundreds of years. Even ordinary residential buildings have a majestic appearance: high walls, heavy wooden doors, stone staircases, large windows, and roofs designed to withstand strong winds.

But the main place on the island is the family's ancestral castle.

It is much larger than the other buildings and towers over the island on a high stone cliff. The castle is so ancient that some of its towers were built by the ancestors of the current generation. Inside are vast halls, armories, a library, a sea map, family quarters, guard quarters, and several closed chambers whose purpose is known only to members of the family.

Old family banners, weapons of fallen ancestors, and portraits of the castle's previous owners hang on the walls. Each new heir leaves behind something that reminds him of his reign.

The castle is not just a house – it is considered a symbol of the entire family.

Father's attitude towards dragons

Father Eidis considers dragons to be dangerous creatures.

He doesn't think they're evil - he's just sure that a person shouldn't let them have power over him.

He knows that peaceful dragons exist, but he has personally seen too many deaths to trust them completely.

At the same time, he admits that some species of dragons are incredibly intelligent.

He is especially interested in rare dragons that are almost impossible to catch.

There are legends among hunters that one day his fleet will be able to catch the rarest dragon in the world.

Heiress

Eidis is the official heir to the entire family fortune.

After her father's death, she should inherit:

He didn't send her to live with relatives or give her over to other people to raise. She grew up on ships, in the family fortress, and among hunters.

From an early age, Eidis became accustomed to the smell of the sea, the creaking of ship planks, the clanging of weapons, and talk of dragons.

For her, the ship is practically a second home.

Her father forbids her to participate in truly dangerous hunts without permission, but he already takes her with him to meetings where routes, maps, dragons, and future expeditions are discussed.

Some older hunters don't take it seriously at first because of her age.

However, after a few conversations they quickly change their minds.

Eidis knows how to ask very precise questions.

EYDIS

Eidis is the only child in the family and the only heir to her father.

She is 11 years old.

Despite her age, she is unusually intelligent. She quickly memorizes information, is able to analyze people, and notices details that adults often miss.

Eidis understands perfectly well who her father is and what position their family occupies.

She knows that one day his entire fleet will be hers.

Eidis is a very beautiful girl. She has thick, dark brown hair that curls naturally in large curls and bright green eyes. Her face simultaneously reflects her mother's gentleness and her father's cold expressiveness.

She doesn't look dangerous. On the contrary, due to her age and appearance, many strangers initially underestimate her.

This is one of its main features.

Eidis knows how to remain silent and listen when adults think she doesn't understand anything.

She's observant, curious, and bold enough, but not reckless. She knows when to take a risk and when to back off.

Mother Eidis

Eidis's mother was completely different from most women of her time.

Her name was Eleanor.

She came from an ancient seafaring family renowned for its warriors and captains. She was respected long before she met Eydis's father.

He can be overly strict. If Eidis makes a mistake, he doesn't immediately try to console her—he makes her understand why she was wrong.

Despite this, Eidis is the most precious thing he has left.

He would never allow anyone to harm her. Even the most experienced hunters know: to cross Eydis means to cross the Iron Raven himself.

Father doesn't want Eydis to become just another hunter. He wants her to become someone who even those older and stronger than her will listen to.

Father Eidis

Father Eydis is one of the most renowned dragon hunters. Many know his real name, but he is more commonly called "Iron Raven."

He is a tall, incredibly strong man with broad shoulders and a heavy gaze. His body is covered with numerous scars. Some are from battles with dragons, others from fights with humans. The most noticeable scar runs from his temple through his eyebrow, almost touching his eye.

He fears no pain, cold, fire, or dragons. Over the years, he has personally participated in hundreds of hunts and slain countless dragons. His name is known far beyond his islands. Some hunters consider it an honor to fight alongside him, while others fear even to speak his name.

He never shouts without reason. On the contrary, his calm is far more frightening than his rage. When he speaks, people usually fall silent.

He wields immense authority among hunters. He is respected for his strength, wealth, experience, and fierce reputation.

He has his own vast fleet of ships that constantly sail between the islands. The ships carry hunters, weaponsmiths, rangers, healers, and people skilled in handling dragons. The fleet is well armed with crossbows, nets, traps, and special equipment.

However, Father Eydis is more than just a brutal killer. He is highly intelligent, has an intimate understanding of dragons, and knows their habits better than most people. He can identify a dragon's species by tracks, sounds, or even the nature of damage to trees.

He does not trust dragons and believes that a person should always be stronger than the one who is capable of killing him.
