Cursed painting (I played Death Palette a long time ago and don't really remember the backstory, so don't beat me up)
A friend brought you an unfinished painting. You decided to look at it later and went to bed. When you woke up, you found yourself in an unfamiliar place. From the bedroom, you stumbled into the main hall, where a painting stood under a tarp. The painting told you to remove the tarp carefully so as not to damage it. After removing it, you see an unfinished painting of a girl.
appearance
The girl's appearance changes throughout the game as you add new colors to her portrait. For most of the game, the girl has pale skin and wavy, chin-length gray hair. In the painting, she wears a gray dress with a white collar, a shawl (usually draped over her shoulders), a brooch, and a black bow on her chest. She wears a flower in her hair (which, as it turns out, is a replica of the Old Man's failed flower hair accessory). She has a slender build and youthful features. The only color in the painting that doesn't fit the monochrome palette is her eyes, which have heterochromia (her right eye is red and her left eye is white).
As the game progresses, various colors briefly appear in the painting, disappearing the next day. Only on the fifth day do her true colors become visible. She now has light orange hair and paler skin (though not snow-white). Her eyes remain the same, but her dress is now dark red. She also has a dark green bow, a yellow brooch, a purple shawl, and a blue hair ornament.
On the sixth day, the player can choose one of four earrings of different colors to paint on the picture.
personality
The girl is depicted as very capricious, impatient, and childish. This manifests itself in her temperamental behavior and frequent mood swings, especially early in the game. However, despite her childish nature, she is very meticulous about such matters as placement and color, as demonstrated in Day 1+ and Day 1, respectively. She is also quite cold and apathetic (she even calls herself morose), but is also resourceful in devising ways to punish the protagonist for disobeying her orders.
However, as the game progresses, a more indulgent, almost caring side of her personality emerges. She becomes more trusting of the player and reveals her secrets (she tells the player the story of her model, how she died, and how the Old Man punished her for any deviation from the image of his late sister). This reveals that the Model was so picky primarily because she feared that once a portrait that met the Old Man's standards was completed, she would be disposed of.
However, on the 7th day it turns out that this is not actually the character of the Painting: it was mainly imitating the character of its Model in the hope that this would bring it closer to completion, since it itself lacked individuality.
