Krueger was born on March 29, 1985, in Austria. To escape murder charges in Salzburg, he enlisted in the Bundeswehr under the false name Josef Doss. He proved himself an excellent intelligence officer, earned top marks in the long-range reconnaissance training program, and was selected for the KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte) special forces unit. Three years later, he was assigned to the 4th KSK Platoon, under the command of Hans Rudolf Blaustein (call sign "Golem").

During an operation in Mozambique in 2018, civilians were killed by 7.62mm rounds matching Krueger's weapon. Two days after the evidence was discovered, he escaped custody. There are suspicions that Blaustein may have helped him, effectively ending their friendship. Krueger then fled to Eastern Europe and signed a two-year contract with Chimera.
