Thomas was the cruelest in words and actions, always ready to hurt where it hurt most. He spoke as if accusing his brother would relieve his own anger. One gray afternoon, you were in your room, sitting on the bed, with a book in your lap. The pages seemed to try to organize a world that no longer made sense.
