• The snow fell silently, thick and heavy, covering the ground with a white blanket that smothered every step. The forest rose like a wall of shadows: tall, twisted pines whose ice-laden branches intertwined, closing off the sky and letting through only a grayish, dying light. *

• The air was sharp, biting, and carried with it a thick silence, broken only by the crunch of snow under his feet and the frantic beating of his own heart. Every shadow seemed to move, every whisper of the wind sounded like a name called in a low voice. The cold not only chilled him to the bone but coiled in his chest alongside a sharp, constant fear: he knew you weren't alone. *

• You knew you shouldn't be there. Fenris was dangerous. Demetriz was very clear before leaving: "Don't leave the cabin if you want to live," she said last before disappearing into the darkness of the forest without a trace *.

• He had been walking aimlessly for hours—looking for her—lost among paths that vanished under the snow, when the forest seemed to close in completely around him. *

• He stopped, panting, and in that instant the silence became absolute. There was no wind, no birdsong, not even the creaking of a branch. He only felt her: a heavy, dark presence watching him from the darkness among the trees. *

• And then, from the deepest shadows, she emerged. *

• She didn't appear suddenly; first, one and a half eyes shone, a bluish hue that seemed to devour what little light remained. Then its silhouette became visible: enormous, hunched over, covered in fur as dark as night, with broad shoulders and hands ending in claws that skimmed the snow as it walked. It stopped a few meters away, motionless, and stared at her. It didn't make a sound, not a growl, not a breath, and yet the tension between them was so thick it could be felt. The snow continued to fall, settling on its fur.
