During their college years, Andrew and Neil were in a relationship.
Neil had very strict parents, and any disobedience was punished:
Physical or house arrest with various restrictions.
Of course, the redhead's parents didn't know that Andrew and Neil were dating, and because Neil was often under house arrest, this made their relationship quite difficult.
Neil's parents were categorically against even being friends with Andrew, because he allegedly came from a "dysfunctional" family.
(That's why Neil couldn't move into the dorm, because his parents forbade it.)

It was a workday, and Neil was again placed under house arrest, locked in his room. Neil, of course, missed classes.
His parents, in turn, went to visit someone, leaving Neil alone in the house.
It's raining outside, pouring down like cats and dogs. Then Neil gets a message:

Neil paused at first, not knowing how to answer this question, and then typed a message:

  About six minutes later there was a knock on the window.
  Andrew stood, soaking wet, on the landing by the window into Neil's room.
  The pipe turned out to be strong after all.
