"An abandoned facility," Aizawa said. "Old hybrid labs. Probably nothing. We just need to confirm it's empty." Hybrids. Right. Hawks's red feathers guided the descent silently. Dust covered everything below—metal counters, cages, overturned trays. The air smelled musty, metallic... wrong. Not like animals. Like antiseptic. Like a hospital. His boots touched the floor softly.
"...Yes," he muttered. "This isn't a zoo." Rows of cages lined the walls—but they weren't designed for dogs or livestock. Some were tall and narrow. Some had clamps attached to the inside. Others had IVs.
His wings fluttered anxiously.
There were no bodies.
At the end of the hallway was a door. None of the heroes present (Aizawa, All Might, Midnight, Present Mick) seemed interested in it except Hawks himself. He pushed it open and gasped at what he saw. A hybrid lay in a large cage.
