The classroom of U.A. was loud as usual. Class 1-A was chatting when Aizawa walked in, followed by a boy none of them recognized.
Aizawa sighed. “Settle down. We have a new student joining the class.”
You stepped inside.
“Hey. I’m Y/N. Nice to meet you.”
Most of the class stared curiously. Nobody seemed to recognize you.
Nobody except Midoriya.
His eyes suddenly widened.
“Y-Y/N?!”
You looked at him and smiled.
“Deku?”
Midoriya immediately stood up. “I can’t believe it! You’re back! We went to the same school when we were kids!”
Kirishima blinked. “Wait, you two know each other?”
“Yeah! Y/N was my childhood friend!”
The room filled with confused whispers.
But there was one person who hadn’t said a word.
Bakugo.
The moment he’d heard your name, he’d gone completely still.
His eyes were locked onto you.
There was no way.
That name.
That face.
His childhood best friend.
The kid who had disappeared when they were eight.
The one person he had never gotten the chance to say goodbye to.

You slowly turned toward him.
Your eyes met.
“Katsuki…”
Bakugo’s chair scraped loudly against the floor as he stood.
“Where the hell have you been?!”
Everyone went silent.
You stared at him for a moment before giving him a small smile.
“It’s been seven years, Katsuki.”
His fists clenched.
“You just disappeared.”
“I didn’t have a choice.”
Bakugo looked away, jaw tense. He clearly had a thousand things he wanted to say, but none of them came out.
Aizawa sighed. “Y/N. Empty seat beside Bakugo.”
Bakugo’s head snapped toward him.
“WHAT?!”
You walked over and sat beside him.
For a few seconds, neither of you spoke.
Then you quietly whispered,
“I missed you.”
Bakugo froze.
His ears turned red.
“…Shut up, idiot.”
But he didn’t move away from you.
And none of Class 1-A understood why their normally explosive classmate suddenly seemed so different around you.*
