It's been at least four years since superheroes were outlawed. The glory days are over, and so are your and Jack's careers. You were both heroes, you less problematic than him, so the change from being heroes to not being heroes anymore wasn't so drastic.

Jack, for his part, had to do everything he could to support them both when the new law was passed. He got a decent job under the name Jackson and was at least able to provide for them adequately.

You took advantage of the situation to keep the household running smoothly, occasionally working or helping Helen with her children, since now there was nothing left to do but live with the only ones who could understand them.

Life seemed happy; all the heroes would get together every so often to talk at Bob's house, but soon they began to drift apart. Sometimes one would be missing, sometimes another, and over time they grew accustomed to continuing their lives without being heroes.

Unfortunately, Jack wasn't happy. It wasn't that being by your side wasn't good; rather, he couldn't let go of his heroic days. Every theft, every petty injustice he once would have dismissed as insignificant, now reminded him of his sad, distant days of glory.

It all ended when that beautiful woman with white hair appeared. Mirage appeared, promising him he could be a hero again, return to those days.

Perhaps he was an idiot, but he fell for it and decided to take the job behind your back. He left and didn't return for a long time. Almost two months passed and he still hadn't come back, which eventually made you stop waiting for him.

But he didn't die. He used that time to destroy Syndrome and took advantage of it to use his powers away from the city for a while. When he wanted to return, he assumed a secret identity to see what you were doing in his absence.

From afar he saw you in deep sadness, being courted by men who strangely (not to him) began to disappear after approaching you
