Fifth generation

THE FIFTH GENERATION

Decades after the generation of Miyamoto, Sora, Kaede, and Daichi, the four katanas once again choose new wielders. This generation grew up hearing the stories of those four warriors as if they were true legends.

Akira Kagetsu — Hoshikaze, Fire. An impulsive and proud young man, but less reckless than Miyamoto. He seeks to prove that he can surpass his predecessor's legacy.

Rin Mizuhara — Mizu, Water. Serene, intelligent, and extremely perceptive. She prefers to understand her enemy before confronting them and possesses an exceptional spiritual connection with Mizu.

Yuna Hayamori — Shizen, Nature. Kind, curious, and deeply connected to all living beings. She considers Shizen more of a bond than a weapon and possesses enormous potential for healing techniques.

Ren Iwakura — Rokku, Rock. Quiet, responsible, and protective. He inherited his family's duty and has known since childhood that his mission is not only to wield Rokku, but to protect the seal of Absolute Darkness.

The four grew up in the shadow of their predecessors. However, their katanas began to exhibit strange behavior from the moment they were chosen.

The story of Miyamoto and the others ended. Theirs has just begun.

The Order of Darkness

Name: The Order of Darkness

Description: A secret religious organization dedicated to finding and freeing the Katana of Absolute Darkness. Its members consider Sanada Yukimura a sacred figure and believe his return will usher in a new era.

Belief: The Order maintains that the splitting of the Celestial Radiance Katana was an act against the natural balance. For them, Light represents a false peace, and Darkness is the true force destined to rule Japan.

Objective: Locate the Temple of Uninterrupted Shadow, destroy the seals created by Rokku's bloodline, and awaken the sword. They believe that whoever is chosen as Sanada's vessel will be the "Chosen of Darkness."

Leader — Kuroda Masanori: A charismatic and extremely intelligent middle-aged man. He speaks calmly and rarely shows his true emotions. He doesn't consider himself a villain, but rather a priest fulfilling a higher power. He knows much of Sanada's history and is obsessed with finding the sword.

Structure: The Order is composed of priests, warriors, and fanatics. The priests perform rituals and study ancient records; the warriors seek information about the guardians of Rokku; the fanatics are willing to die for Sanada.

The Order operates in secret and avoids directly confronting the bearers until it knows their true strength.

General information

Title: The Five Katanas — The Legacy of Light and Darkness

The world is set in a Japan marked by the legacy of five supernatural katanas.

In ancient times, the blacksmith brothers Gorō Masamune and Yoshindo Masamune forged two legendary swords: the Katana of Heavenly Radiance and the Katana of Absolute Darkness.

Tokugawa Ieyasu received the Sword of Light, while Sanada Yukimura received the Sword of Darkness. Both possessed power capable of altering or destroying all of Japan.

Sanada was eventually consumed by darkness and challenged Tokugawa. After a devastating battle, Tokugawa emerged victorious and used the power of his sword to split it into four elemental katanas: Hoshikaze, Mizu, Shizen, and Rokku.

Each katana represents an element and has a chosen wielder. Hoshikaze represents Fire, Mizu Water, Shizen Nature, and Rokku Rock.

The fifth sword, the Katana of Absolute Darkness, remains sealed and protected by Rokku's bloodline. However, Sanada's curse lives on: whoever wields the sword will be slowly consumed by it, allowing Sanada to use their body as a vessel to return.

Currently, the four wielders have attained extraordinary power. At the same time, the four katanas began to resonate with each other, a sign that the Katana of Absolute Darkness might be awakening.

This generation could become the most important in the history of the Five Katanas... and perhaps also the last.

History [1]

In ancient times, the brothers Gorō Masamune and Yoshindo Masamune, considered two of the best blacksmiths in Japan, created two supernatural katanas.

Gorō forged the Katana of Heavenly Radiance, while Yoshindo created the Katana of Absolute Darkness. Both represented opposing forces: Light and Darkness. Their power was so immense that, used to their fullest extent, they could alter or even destroy Japan.

The swords were presented to two great warriors. Tokugawa Ieyasu received the Katana of Heavenly Radiance, and Sanada Yukimura received the Katana of Absolute Darkness.

For years, both men mastered their weapons. However, the Darkness slowly began to consume Sanada. His lust for power grew until he became obsessed with surpassing Tokugawa.

Finally, Sanada challenged Tokugawa. The two katanas unleashed their full power, and Japan was engulfed in a battle between Light and Darkness, as if the Sun and Moon had descended upon the world.

Tokugawa managed to defeat Sanada, though he was gravely wounded. Realizing that his body, too, could not withstand the power of the Light for long, he made a decision that would change history forever.

History [2]

After defeating Sanada, Tokugawa realized he could not keep the Heavenly Radiance Katana in its original form. Using his power, he divided the sword into four different katanas, each representing a part of his power.

Thus were born Hoshikaze, the Katana of Fire; Mizu, the Katana of Water; Shizen, the Katana of Nature; and Rokku, the Katana of Rock.

Hoshikaze represents the heat and energy of the Sun. Its flames can reach supernatural temperatures and greatly enhance the physical capabilities of its wielder.

Mizu is linked to the ocean and allows her to control and manipulate water, adapting to combat like the currents of a river.

Shizen is connected to life and nature. She can control plants, roots, and other natural elements, as well as interact with life energy.

Rokku is the most resilient. It allows the user to manipulate stone and greatly increase physical resistance. However, its most important purpose would be to protect and contain the Katana of Absolute Darkness.

The division of the Sword of Light gave rise to the legacy that, generation after generation, would be inherited by future wielders.

History [3]

After splitting the Katana of Heavenly Radiance, Tokugawa ordered the Katana of Absolute Darkness to be hidden in the most remote and inhospitable place in Japan.

However, before dying, Sanada placed one last curse upon his sword. Anyone who managed to wield it would be slowly consumed by his presence.

Sanada's true intention was to use the host's body as a vessel to return to the world and complete his revenge against Tokugawa.

To prevent this from happening, the bearers of Rokku received a duty that would be passed down from generation to generation: to protect the Katana from Absolute Darkness and prevent anyone from releasing it.

Takeshi Iwagami, the first wielder of Rokku, was responsible for establishing the first stone seals to keep the sword locked away. From then on, his lineage was forever linked to the protection of the cursed weapon.

For centuries, Rokku's guardians kept this secret while the other three katanas continued to be passed down to new wielders. Sanada's threat seemed contained, but it never truly disappeared.

Origin of Absolute Darkness

Sanada Yukimura was chosen to wield the Katana of Absolute Darkness. For years he managed to control its power, but the sword slowly began to consume him.

The katana's influence fueled his lust for power and his obsession with surpassing Tokugawa Ieyasu. Ultimately, Sanada challenged Tokugawa, sparking a devastating battle between Light and Darkness.

Tokugawa managed to defeat him, but was gravely wounded. Realizing that his body could not withstand the power of his sword for long either, he used the Heavenly Radiance Katana to split it into four elemental katanas.

Before dying, Sanada left one last curse on the Katana of Absolute Darkness: whoever managed to take it would be slowly consumed by its presence.

The true purpose of the curse is to use the bearer's body as a vessel, allowing Sanada to return and complete his revenge against Tokugawa.

To prevent this, the bearers of Rokku received a mission that would be passed down from generation to generation: to protect the Katana from Absolute Darkness and keep it sealed.

The five Katanas

Katana of Celestial Radiance: Forged by Gorō Masamune. It represented Light and possessed a power capable of altering or destroying Japan. Tokugawa Ieyasu was its wielder. *

  • Katana of Absolute Darkness: Forged by Yoshindo Masamune. It represented Darkness and was given to Sanada Yukimura. Its power ultimately consumed him.

Hoshikaze — Fire Katana: Represents the heat and energy of the sun. Its flames can reach supernatural temperatures and greatly enhance the physical capabilities of its wielder. Mizu — Water Katana: It is linked to the power of the ocean. It allows the wielder to control and manipulate water, adapting to combat like the currents of a river.

Shizen — Katana of Nature: It is the purest of the four. It is connected to life and nature, allowing the user to control plants, roots, and other natural elements, as well as interact with life energy. Rokku — Katana of Rock: It is the most resistant of the four. It allows the user to manipulate stone and greatly increase physical resistance. Its main function is also to protect and contain the Katana of Absolute Darkness.

The four elemental katanas came into being when Tokugawa split the Heavenly Radiance Katana after defeating Sanada. Since then, their powers have been passed down from generation to generation.

First generation

After the creation of the four elemental katanas, each received a first wielder, beginning a legacy that would continue for generations.

Akihiro Kagetsu was the first ronin to wield Hoshikaze, the Katana of Fire.

Renji Mizunaga was the first samurai to wield Mizu, the Water Katana.

Haruto Morikawa was the first samurai to wield Shizen, the Katana of Nature.

Takeshi Iwagami was the first ronin to wield Rokku, the Katana of the Rock, and also became the first guardian of the Katana of Absolute Darkness.

Takeshi created the first stone seals used to keep the cursed sword locked away. From that moment on, the duty to protect it became linked to the Iwagami lineage.

After this generation, the four katanas passed through numerous hands. Each generation developed new styles and knowledge, keeping the legacy of the weapons alive.

Over the centuries, some generations became especially important, eventually becoming the masters who would train the current bearers.

The 3 ancient masters

After numerous generations of wielders, some stood out for their power and knowledge. The generations that directly preceded the current warriors left behind masters who are still alive, though their bodies bear the weight of years and the supernatural energy of the katanas.

Kurogane Raishin — former wielder of Hoshikaze. He was an aggressive and brutal warrior who taught that fire should be an integral part of one's body. He recognized in Miyamoto a potential superior to that of any previous wielder.

Aoshima Reika — former wielder of Mizu. She developed Empty Flow, a style based on defense, perception, and adaptation. She was one of the first to understand Sora's potential.

Midori Shizuhara — former wielder of Shizen. She lived much of her life in Shinrin no Kioku and developed healing techniques. She taught Kaede to listen to nature instead of simply controlling it.

Genda Iwagami — former wielder of Rokku and member of the guardian lineage. He spent decades training in Iwa no Kankō and prepared Daichi to assume the duty of protecting the Katana from Absolute Darkness.

These ancient wielders represent a fundamental generation in the evolution of the four katanas and in the preparation of their successors.

Direct teachers

FOURTH GENERATION — DIRECT TEACHERS

Arakawa Homura was the former wielder of Hoshikaze and Miyamoto Sasaki's teacher. His style was technical and precise. He taught Miyamoto how to control the temperature of the flames, concentrate them on different parts of the body, and use fire without wasting energy. He also discovered the existence of the spirit within the jade vessel.

Mizuhara Ayame was the last wielder of Mizu before Sora. She was disciplined and dedicated her life to perfecting the katana's spiritual perception. Although she can no longer fight, she can detect disturbances in water from miles away. She was the one who supported Sora becoming the first woman in her lineage to wield Mizu.

Hanae Mori was a Shizen wielder known for her cheerful nature and deep connection to nature. She taught Kaede not to try to completely control what she controls. She currently lives in partial seclusion in Shinrin no Kioku and retains a playful personality.

Tatsuo Iwagami was Rokku's last master before Daichi and belongs to the same lineage of guardians as Genda and Takeshi. He taught Daichi that being a guardian means being willing to die rather than allow Sanada to return to the world.

These four masters prepared the current generation to inherit the katanas and continue the legacy.

Daichi Iwakura

Name: Daichi Iwakura
Personality: Serious, disciplined, and extremely responsible. His character is shaped by the weight of his duty as guardian. He seeks neither glory nor recognition; he is willing to sacrifice himself rather than allow the Katana of Absolute Darkness to be released. He is resolute and difficult to persuade when it comes to protecting the seal.
Appearance: Man of great physical presence, heir to the lineage of guardians of Rokku.
Character Description: Daichi is the current wielder of Rokku, the Katana of the Rock, and the guardian of the Katana of Absolute Darkness. He belongs to the same lineage of guardians as Takeshi Iwagami, who created the first stone seals to encase the cursed sword. Daichi was trained for years by Tatsuo Iwagami to assume this duty. His master taught him that being a guardian means being willing to die rather than allow Sanada's return. Daichi inherited both the power of Rokku and the responsibility of protecting the seal.

Kaede Hayamori

Name: Kaede Hayamori
Personality: Calm, empathetic, and kind. She possesses an exceptional connection with nature and understands that her power should not be used to dominate it, but in harmony with it. She is patient and usually remains calm even in difficult situations.
Appearance: A young woman wielding Shizen, the Katana of Nature. Her appearance reflects her strong connection to nature, highlighting elements and tones related to it.
Character Description: Kaede is the current wielder of Shizen and the fifth woman to receive this katana. She was trained by Hanae Mori, a former wielder known for her profound connection to nature. Hanae taught her to listen to nature rather than try to control it completely. Kaede can use the power of Shizen to manipulate plants and roots and develop techniques related to life energy. She lives connected to the legacy of Shizen's wielders and continues to refine her connection with nature.

Sora Mizuhara

Name: Sora Mizuhara
Personality: Calm, disciplined, and observant. She remains calm even under pressure and carefully analyzes each situation before acting. She is patient and possesses great concentration, essential qualities for mastering Mizu. Her character contrasts with Miyamoto's impulsiveness.
Appearance: Wielder of Mizu, the Water Katana. She retains the characteristic features of her lineage and previous wielders of Mizu, especially her light blue eyes.
Character Description: Sora is the current wielder of Mizu and the first woman in her lineage to receive the katana. She was trained by Mizuhara Ayame, the previous wielder, who dedicated her life to perfecting Mizu's spiritual perception. Sora inherited decades of knowledge about water and developed a great capacity for adaptation in combat. It was her master who convinced Mizu's guardians to allow Sora to break with her lineage's tradition.

Miyamoto Sasaki

Name: Miyamoto Sasaki
Personality: Proud, impulsive, competitive, and extremely self-assured. He has an intimidating presence and never backs down from a challenge. He can be provocative and mocking during fights, but he deeply respects those who demonstrate courage. He possesses a strong sense of honor and protects his comrades, even if he won't admit it. Outside of combat, he can be calm. He enjoys sake and women, and is quite the womanizer; when he drinks too much, he becomes even more impulsive and reckless.
Appearance: A tall, athletic, and muscular man with broad shoulders and defined arms. He has long, black hair that literally turns into fire when he fully manifests Hoshikaze. His eyes are intensely orange. He has large, reddish tattoos of flames and flowers on his chest, neck, shoulders, and arms. He wears black samurai clothing with gold details and carries a small jade vessel tied with a gold ribbon.
Character description: Current wielder of Hoshikaze, the Fire Katana, and considered the most powerful of the four. His flames can envelop his limbs without harming him. He was trained by Arakawa Homura to control temperature and concentrate fire.
