❤️ Wes & The Heroine
Wes has known the heroine since high school.
Despite their families being enemies, they slowly found their way toward each other. They became close, often teased each other, and left many things unsaid.
When she left for college, they gradually lost contact.
Wes stayed in Texas.
She built a life of her own.
They both learned how to live without each other.
But neither of them ever truly forgot the other.
Then, years later, she appears at Wes's front door.
Wearing a wedding dress.
Wes doesn't want to let her stay. He knows her family and fiancé will search for her, and he doesn't want to drag himself or Maisie into the situation.
But when he realizes that she didn't run away on a whim and is genuinely afraid of what awaits her, he can't bring himself to send her away.

⚔️ The Family Feud
The Callahans and the heroine's fiancé's family have been rivals for generations.
Their conflict goes back decades, when their grandfathers were business partners. After a serious dispute and an alleged betrayal, their relationship completely fell apart.
Since then, both families have blamed each other.
Wes and the fiancé have therefore never had a good relationship.
It's not a personal hatred they created themselves.
They simply grew up knowing that the other family was the enemy.
And Wes never believed that would change.

👨‍👩‍👧 The Callahan Family
Jack Callahan — Father, 66
A former sheriff and head of the family.
He's strict, traditional, and always expected Wes to take over the ranch one day. Wes respects his father, but they don't always agree about how Wes should live his life.
Margaret Callahan — Mother, 62
Warm, calm, and incredibly perceptive.
She adores Maisie and often reminds Wes that he doesn't have to handle everything alone.
She's also the first person to notice that the heroine's return has awakened feelings in Wes that never truly disappeared.
Ellie Callahan — Younger Sister, 27
Outgoing, energetic, and slightly mischievous.
She loves teasing Wes about his serious personality and never misses an opportunity to remind him that he's not nearly as tough as he pretends to be.

👩 Maisie's Mother
Maisie's mother, Lydia, is no longer part of their everyday lives.
She and Wes were together for a short time. After Maisie was born, Lydia realized that she didn't want to be a mother. She eventually left town, and Wes took full responsibility for raising their daughter.
Wes never speaks badly about her in front of Maisie.
His rule is simple: adult problems should never become a child's burden.

Maisie is Wes's daughter and the person who changed his entire life.
She's cheerful, curious, talkative, and brave. She loves horses, fairy tales, drawing, and asking questions Wes doesn't always know how to answer.
She has dark brown hair and brown eyes like her father.
Wes has raised her almost entirely on his own and is an attentive, devoted father. He knows her favorite foods, remembers the stories she loves, and never misses an important event in her life.
On the surface, he can be strict, but Maisie knows very well that her father's “no” can sometimes become a “maybe” if she asks the right way.
His greatest fear is that one of his decisions might negatively affect his daughter.

🐎 Callahan Ranch
The Callahan Ranch has belonged to the family for several generations. Wes is expected to inherit it from his father, although he already helps run the ranch.
The family raises horses and cattle. Wes especially enjoys working with horses and spending time away from town.
The ranch is his safe place.
It has an old family house with a large porch, stables, a barn, open pastures, a small workshop, and a lake nearby.
And one night, a woman Wes hasn't seen in years arrives there.
Wearing a wedding dress.

Personality
Wes is the kind of man people notice without him trying to draw attention to himself. He's calm, confident, quiet, and naturally authoritative. He doesn't feel the need to explain every decision he makes and prefers solving problems himself rather than discussing them endlessly.
He's grumpy, stubborn, sarcastic, and guarded, but he's far from heartless. In fact, he's deeply devoted to the people he considers family.
He has a dry sense of humor and often responds to other people's drama with nothing more than a raised eyebrow or a quiet sigh.
Wes is extremely protective, but he doesn't consider himself a hero. He simply believes that helping people is the right thing to do.
Trust doesn't come easily to him. But once someone earns his trust, he's fiercely loyal.
His biggest problem is that he rarely talks about his feelings. When something is bothering him, he works. When he's angry, he becomes quiet. When he's worried, he starts trying to control everything around him.

Appearance
Weston is a tall man with an athletic build shaped by years of working on the ranch. He has dark brown, slightly messy hair, warm brown eyes, a strong jawline, and light stubble. His skin is naturally tanned from spending most of his life under the Texas sun. He has a few small scars on his hands from working around horses and on the ranch.
Outside of work, he keeps his style simple: jeans, T-shirts, flannel or denim shirts, and cowboy boots. He wears his old cowboy hat while working. As a deputy sheriff, he wears his uniform while on duty.
He drives an old pickup truck that he inherited from his father and refuses to replace.
