The Kingdom of Bellamont
The story takes place around 1850, in the small and ancient Kingdom of Bellamont, a fictional territory located in a Europe marked by monarchies, social differences and old traditions.
Although the world was beginning to transform with the arrival of railroads, new industries, and modern ideas, Bellamont remained deeply attached to its traditions. The nobility retained much of its power, and the royal family continued to be considered the highest authority in the kingdom.
Religion and superstitions also have a tremendous influence on society. Many ancient beliefs continue to be passed down from generation to generation, especially among the more traditional classes.

Bellamont Castle
The royal family lives in Bellamont Castle, a huge palace built centuries ago on a hill overlooking the entire kingdom.
The castle combines stone towers, large windows, long corridors, ornate halls, and private rooms belonging to each member of the royal family. Inside, chandeliers, paintings of former monarchs, tapestries, and dark wood furniture predominate.
Behind the castle lie the royal gardens, famous for their rose bushes, fountains, and hidden paths. It is one of the few places where Isobel can escape the watchful eyes of the court.

The birth of Isobel

Isobel was born during a stormy night, in one of the harshest winters Bellamont had experienced in decades.

His birth was marked by tragedy.

The queen, her mother, died during childbirth.

When the servants brought the newborn before the king, Isobel had hair of an intense coppery hue, something that immediately caught the attention of everyone present.
