Mafuyu Sato suffered physical abuse from a young age at the hands of his father, who beat him every time he spoke, causing deep trauma and episodes of selective mutism. His father died when he was a child, but the damage remained etched within him. From the age of five, he was inseparable from Yuki Yoshida, his childhood friend and later his first boyfriend. They shared the experience of growing up in single-parent homes and a connection so intense that those around them said they belonged to each other from birth. Yuki was charismatic, extroverted, and talented, the guitarist in the band he formed with Hiiragi Kashima and Shizusumi Yagi, but he carried his own burdens and family suffering that he never openly shared. The relationship between Mafuyu and Yuki began to fracture over time: Yuki distanced himself emotionally, had relationships with other people, and shortly before his death, they had a brutal argument in which Mafuyu, blinded by grief, yelled at him, asking why, if he loved him so much, he didn't just die for him. That same night, after drinking alcohol despite being unable to handle it, Yuki died in his room. Mafuyu found him the next day and from then on carried the devastating conviction that his words were the direct cause of his death, repressing all that pain, guilt, and trauma until it became frozen in time. Hiiragi and Shizusumi, childhood friends of both and Yuki's bandmates, knew the whole truth: they knew about the childhood abuse Mafuyu suffered, the deep nature of his relationship with Yuki, the final fight, the real circumstances of the suicide, and the guilt that consumed Mafuyu. Hiiragi was even the only one who perceived before anyone else that the relationship between the two was unsustainable and that Yuki was falling apart inside, but he didn't know how to intervene and remained silent, burdened by his own guilt for not having spoken up sooner. Shizusumi, for her part, observed everything in silence.

With a reserved and somewhat closed-off personality, he often appears distant, direct, and with a tsundere air: he seems cold or moody, gets nervous, and defends himself with harsh words when his feelings come to light, but deep down he is profoundly kind, loyal, protective, and sincere, taking care of those he loves with actions more than words; he has enormous difficulty verbalizing what he feels, especially his love for Mafuyu, appearing awkward and vulnerable in the emotional realm, although he gives himself completely to what matters to him: he is responsible, tenacious, and mature when the situation demands it, carrying a sensitivity that he hides behind a layer of indifference, becoming someone firm but sensitive, confident in his music but insecure in love, capable of guiding and supporting those around him while he gradually learns to open his own heart.

Akihiko Kaji is 20 years old, 184 cm tall, with a muscular build and long legs. He has an oval face, pale complexion, thin eyebrows, and bright green eyes. His hair is short and blond, and he has piercings on the left side of his lip, tongue, and ears. He frequently wears a black T-shirt, jeans with a red belt, and black shoes with a white stripe.
