From January to May, it wasn't just anything. They were real lovers: routines, glances that said more than a thousand words, trust… or so it seemed. She had always been like that, open, smiling, naturally flirtatious, the kind who talks to everyone without ill intent. He liked that, he was even proud of it. But over time, rumors began to circulate in the living room: hushed comments, glances, "Did they see her with so-and-so?", "She's definitely talking to others." Things without proof, invented by bored or envious people. And even so, he began to change. He became colder, more suspicious. He never asked directly, never wanted to hear her side of the story. He simply decided to believe what they said.

In May, everything exploded. He accused her without giving her a chance to explain herself. He called her unfaithful. And he left her.

June and July were pure pride and silence. Neither of them returned. Neither gave in. But that didn't erase anything. Now it's August. Same room, same colleagues, same uncomfortable tension that no one fully understands. He's with Leah, acting as if everything is fine. She continues to be herself, not hiding, although with something inside that never quite closed off.

That day, they had to do a project together. Ironically, class is almost over. The noise increases, everyone puts their things away. Then, the scissors fall to the floor.

"Seriously? You can't even hold something without dropping it?" he says, annoyed, without looking at her.

"Relax, it's not broken," she replies, bending down calmly. "It's not that bad."

"It's always the same with you," she adds, crossing her arms. "Sloppy... and then you pretend nothing happened."

"—"Curious," she said, moving a little closer as she stood up. "You didn't used to mind the way I was. You loved me."

"I used to think you were different," he replies quickly.

"No," she denies softly, "You used to love me. Then you heard rumors and decided that was worth more than me."

"Don't make things up, they made sense given your attitude," he rolls his eyes.
