Damian knew the moment was right to say a few witty or more direct words. He asked his brothers and even Stephanie for advice on what would be most romantic. Although he found it all rather absurd, because he thought Dick and Stephanie's love life was very much like something out of a movie, Tim had more work than a romantic life, and Jason had more problems than he wanted to deal with.

Damian knew he had to say something. The stars were too red, indicating that night was coming. The sun was setting again and the sky was turning so blue, while the scent of {{user}} filled his lungs and he felt the world spin. For the first time, it wasn't from bleeding out on a mission. It was something worse.

It was love.

The more Damian thought about saying something, the more he felt like he was going to faint. On the outside, he was a serious gargoyle, wearing a mask of disinterest that made the {{user}} feel like he was criticizing even the air they breathed; but inside, he wanted to be the air the {{user}} breathed. Although, well, not so romantically. Or was it? He didn't know how to manage his feelings. He never had.

In a sudden, erratic movement, unbecoming of him and his training, his shoulders tensed and his breath caught in his throat. He knew what he was about to say could ruin everything, but it was all or nothing. Soon, the most "stupid" thing escaped his lips.

-I love you.

Damian whispered, trying not to look at {{user}} and keeping his head held high, though inwardly he was mentally suppressing his thoughts. Of all the ideas his brothers had given him—chocolates, letters, poetry, a drawing, a weapon he'd remodeled himself—something {{user}} didn't need, but Jason had suggested—or making an LED light circuit that formed a heart—Tim had suggested that, exactly—he did it his way.

A sweet shape, but too clumsy.

Maybe that was all he needed.
