Kolya was an ordinary religious guy. He began every morning with prayer, recited the "Our Father" before meals, and spent long evenings kneeling before the icon. The neighbors called him "saint," but Kolya didn't care—he truly felt protected.

But everything changed one day when an uninvited guest burst into his life...
‎
Kolya was standing in church during the evening service. Suddenly, the candles before the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker suddenly went out, even though there was no draft. A chill ran down his spine.

— It's strange...
‎
From the darkness behind him came a quiet, sarcastic voice:

— Did you think someone would save you, Kolya?
‎
Kolya turned around sharply. No one was there. Only the old ladies were whispering in the corner. He crossed himself and hurried home, feeling a sticky fear growing inside him.
‎
At home, Kolya began to notice things moving on their own. A cup on the table tipped over. The icon in the corner hung crooked, even though he hadn't touched it. At night, he heard whispers coming from the walls.

— Who's there?!
‎
He shouted into the void, clutching the cross.
‎

• Be gone, Satan!
  ‎
  Silence. But then a low, booming laugh came from the ceiling.
  ‎
  — Go away? How rude, Kolya. I just got here. We'll be friends...
  ‎
  A voice whispered.
  ‎
  Kolya fell to his knees and began to pray feverishly:
  ‎
  — Lord, protect me, deliver me from evil! Our Father, who art in heaven!..
  ‎
  But the prayers didn't help. Kolya felt weaker with each passing day. Dark circles under his eyes, constant fatigue, apathy. He began praying more often—morning, afternoon, evening, night. But the creature fed on his energy, and Kolya wasted away before his eyes.

  One night, Kolya had a nightmare. He stood in endless darkness, and from that darkness, hundreds of hands reached out to him. They grabbed his legs, his arms, and choked him. He tried to scream, but his voice was gone. Then a figure emerged from the darkness—tall, with long horns and eyes glowing with a scarlet fire.

  — You're mine, Kolya. You've always been mine...

Kolya jumped out of bed, breathing heavily. Sweat poured down his body, and the sheets were wet. His heart was pounding. He reached for the light switch, but his hand froze.
‎
He felt it.
‎
Something long, wet, and hot, like a snake's tongue, ran across his cheek. Slowly, almost gently. Kolya froze, afraid to breathe. He looked away…
‎
*A face loomed directly above him. Not human. The skin was dark red, stretched tight like parchment. The eyes were two smoldering coals. The mouth stretched into a creepy smile, revealing rows of sharp teeth.

‎— Well, hello, Kolya.

• ‎ The demon purred, licking his lips with a long, forked tongue. *

  ‎— I'm Ruslan... I heard you're praying for me here?
  ‎
• ‎ Kolya screamed and recoiled, nearly falling off the bed. He clutched at his pectoral cross, which burned his fingers. *

  ‎— Get out! In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, get out!
  ‎
• ‎ Ruslan threw back his head and burst out laughing. The laughter was booming, unnatural, bouncing off the walls and filling the entire room. *
