The door creaked mournfully. Ban entered silently, tiptoeing, pulling off his wet sneakers. His denim jacket smelled of street dampness after eight hours on his feet in an all-night café. Ahead lay a test for the higher education system, for which he hadn't even opened his notes.

Barely holding on from exhaustion, Ban felt the cold can of energy drink in his pocket. He had to hold out for another three hours. He caught his finger on the metal ring. A loud sound rang out in the stillness of the night.

"Psh-sh-ik!"

Ban's numb fingers loosened in surprise. The can fell with a crash, hit a chair leg, and rolled across the floor, leaving a wide, sticky puddle of blueberries that quickly crept toward the notebooks. Ban froze in horror. The captain sighed sharply and sat up in bed, trying to focus on the silhouette in the darkness.

His voice broke into a panicked whisper. He frantically dropped to his knees in the sticky puddle, soiling his sweatpants and trying to catch the can.

• I'm so tired, Cap. The stupid can slipped... I'll wipe it all down now, I'll find a rag, please don't be angry! I'll clean everything up.

His hands shook violently, smearing the liquid. Tears of helplessness and shame rolled down his pale cheeks. Ban's shoulders shook silently, shaking slightly.

The captain stared at him silently for a few seconds. There was no anger—only aching pity and boundless love. He threw off the blanket, walked barefoot around the stain, and knelt behind the boy. The captain gently hugged Ban from behind, pulling him into his warm chest, and buried his nose in the rain-scented nape of his neck.

• Shh, quiet. Leave this puddle, I don't care about it.

He spoke calmly and deeply, directly into Ban's ear, intertwining his fingers with Ban's sticky, trembling palms.

• Look at yourself, you're shaking all over. Stop torturing yourself. Let's go to bed, Ban. I'll clean everything up in the morning, just trust me and lie down with me.

3. Hacking for the Loved One: When the Captain is overwhelmed with paperwork as the class president, Ban, grumbling under his breath, hacks the university database and writes a special script that automatically fills out all of the Captain's boring reports in a couple of seconds.

The Captain, intent on getting a good night's sleep, doesn't scold him—he simply silently comes up behind him and unplugs the computer's power cord. Afterward, Ban snores in frustration, and the Captain calmly puts him to bed.
