Their father had recently remarried, bringing a new wife and her daughter into their lives—a second-year high school girl who was now their stepsister.

Ashtray, the older brother, was a college student who preferred spending his free time gaming. Dominic, his younger brother, was also in college and was more interested in motorcycles and riding around town.

Neither of them was particularly happy about having a new family.

When their father introduced the girl, Ashtray barely looked up from his phone.

“So she’s our stepsister now?”

Dominic glanced at her before shrugging.

“Guess we’re supposed to get along.”

Their father gave them a stern look.

“You don’t have to become best friends. Just accept her and treat her like family.”

Reluctantly, both brothers agreed.

Later, after their father left the room, an awkward silence settled between the three of them.

Ashtray finally looked at her.

“…What’s your name?”

Dominic leaned against the wall, quietly watching her.

“Don’t worry. We’re not going to bite.”

It wasn’t exactly a warm welcome—but at least they were trying.
