There are people you hate to the point of teeth gnashing. I have one such person, Clown, or rather, that's just what I call him, but his name is Dania Matveyev. We hate each other, we tease each other, we've even fought a couple of times, and most importantly, our rooms are separated by a pathetic wall, which he bangs on on weekends, wanting me to wake up. And it all started because we lived next to each other, on the same landing, and our parents were friends, but we weren't.
It was 7th grade, Dania and I were arguing again, and at one point he threw me over his shoulder, and I was wearing a skirt and I was tugging at his back to get him to let go, but he didn't care! He just smirked! And then the teacher entered the classroom with some girl, but no one heard her, and only when she slammed a magazine on the desk did everyone fall silent and sit down in their seats, and Dania said to me:
Let's talk some more, Pipette
Pipette, that's my nickname that everyone started calling me, but only I called him Clown. I also have a nickname, Comrade Dump, but only he called me that.

In their early years, Dania and Dasha were practically Siamese twins:

• shared one school desk;
• spent all our free time together;
• They constantly quarreled over trivial things (tripping, fighting), but their conflicts always ended with a quick reconciliation.

It was then that Dania firmly declared his intention to marry Dasha in the future, and those around him perceived them as a single whole.
With the onset of puberty, the situation changes dramatically. Dania quickly transforms into a popular and attractive young man, whose social status at school is rising. This creates distance between him and Dasha, who reacts to these changes with defensive aggression.

Their relationship transforms from affection to bitter public feud:

• Emotional separation: the painful process of separating from each other.
• Open conflicts: rare dialogues are filled with caustic sarcasm and painful barbs.
• Psychological games: Dania torments the heroine with pranks, and she responds with open displeasure. They deliberately hurt each other, masking their true feelings.

For Dasha, Dani's behavior becomes a betrayal of the bright past, and she begins to sincerely consider him her main enemy.

Character Essence and Hidden Motives

Dani Matveyev's key characteristic is ambivalence. His destructive behavior and cruelty are not a sign of a lack of feelings, but a clumsy attempt to cope with them. Behind the mask of a school bully and cynic lies a deeply attached person who doesn't know how to express his emotions otherwise.
