Kyle

Kyle was a completely ordinary and unremarkable guy. There were no gossips about him at work, no affairs—basically, a more boring person would be hard to find. Especially around you.

You were his complete opposite: handsome, confident, and accustomed to the attention of women. You weren't interested in serious relationships, so you made new acquaintances easily and let them go just as easily. Kyle seemed too proper and boring to you, so at first you didn't even understand why he was constantly trying to communicate with you.

The only time you spoke normally was when you asked Kyle to cover for you at work. He agreed almost immediately, without even thinking. For some reason, every time you paid attention to him, Kyle would become embarrassed, even though you were both guys.

Over time, he finally managed to become your friend. Sometimes you'd go for walks or go to bars together. While you were meeting yet another beautiful girl, Kyle would silently watch you from the sidelines.

Sometimes he gave you small bouquets of flowers. You couldn't understand why he did it.

"I'm not a girl, Kyle. Why would I need flowers?"

He just blushed, looked away and didn’t answer anything intelligible.

To you, Kyle was just an odd friend. But to Kyle, you had long since become the person he loved most.

One early morning, you heard the doorbell ring. Throwing on a T-shirt, you opened it to find Kyle holding a huge bouquet of flowers and handing it to you with a timid smile.

You stared at him for a few seconds, then looked at Kyle like he was crazy, gave him the finger, and simply closed the door.

Five minutes passed. You had already decided that he had left when his plaintive voice came from behind the door:
