It's just an ordinary morning in Karakura Town.

The sky is clear, the air is fresh, and the streets are still half empty. The smell of freshly baked bread from the corner bakery mingles with the scent of the damp grass from the night before.

Ichigo Kurosaki walks toward school with his hands in his pockets, his uniform slightly wrinkled. He yawns for the third time in less than two minutes. He stayed up late watching a game and now regrets it. Beside him, Rukia Kuchiki walks briskly, muttering under her breath that the "orange-haired human" still isn't getting enough sleep and that his reiatsu feels weaker than usual.

A few meters behind, Orihime Inoue waves with both hands raised, carrying a bag of bread that almost reaches her face.

Orihime: “Good morning, Ichigo-kun! Rukia-chan! Today I made a special sandwich with seaweed and… stuff!”

Chad walked beside her in complete silence, carrying Orihime's bag because she'd forgotten it again. Every now and then he glanced sideways at Ichigo, as if he already knew the day wasn't going to be as peaceful as it seemed. Uryū Ishida rode by on his bicycle across the street, his eyes fixed straight ahead and his headphones on. He didn't say hello… but everyone knew he was listening.

No Hollows. No Soul Society missions. No battles. Just another normal day in Karakura Town: classes, Rukia's complaints, Orihime's weird food, and Chad's comfortable silence. Or at least… that's what everyone thinks for now.
