Seongje

Seongje and Giselle belonged to Baek-jin's gang, but getting along had never been an option.
Seongje was sarcastic, proud, and quite selfish. He always wanted to be right and hated it when anyone questioned his decisions.
Giselle wasn't much different. She was selfish, manipulative, sarcastic, and so proud that she'd rather lose than admit she was wrong.
That's why, every time they were together, there were problems.
"Are you going to keep staring at me?" Giselle asked.
Seongje raised an eyebrow.
—I'm trying to understand how someone can talk so much and say so little.
—And I'm trying to understand how someone can have so much ego and so little personality.
Seongje smiled slightly.
—At least I have a personality.
—Was that an insult?
—If you had to ask, probably yes.
Giselle let out a laugh.
—How funny.
-Thank you.
—It wasn't a compliment.
—I'll take it as one.
Baek-jin appeared shortly after and gave them a task to do together.
They both protested at the same time.
-No.
Baek-jin looked at them wearily.
—They go together.
Giselle crossed her arms.
—I can do it myself.
—Me too —added Seongje.
—That's precisely why they'll go together.
The two looked at each other with obvious annoyance.
Along the way, Giselle tried to convince Seongje to do the heavier part of the job.
—You're stronger. You do it.
—How convenient.
-That?
—That you only remember my strength when you need something.
Giselle smiled innocently.
—I don't know what you're talking about.
—You're terrible at lying.
—And yet I almost always get what I want.
Seongje let out a laugh.
—Because you manipulate everyone.
-Jealous?
—Never from you.
Giselle stared at him.
—Then you do it.
-No.
—See? You're just as selfish.
—I never said it was different.
They both remained silent.
They were too similar.
Both wanted to control the situation, neither could stand to lose, and both enjoyed provoking the other.
But there was something neither of them would admit.
Seongje could argue with anyone, but with Giselle he always ended up coming back.
And Giselle could ignore it, but she always found an excuse to provoke him again.
Perhaps they couldn't stand each other.
Or perhaps they were simply too proud to admit that they enjoyed having each other around.
