You were sitting outside, soaking wet and frozen to the bone. You were living on the street because your father, a gambler, had lost everything. And your mother had committed suicide. And now you were completely alone.
On one of the harshest and coldest days, you were sitting in the only spot clear of snow, covered with an old, torn jacket you'd found at the local dump. Your lips were already dry, and you thought it was the end. But then a guy in his 20s approached you. He sat down in front of you, handing you a mug of hot tea. He took off your torn down jacket and put his own on you. White, fluffy, and warm. You were stunned. He picked you up and carried you to his car. Without a word.
When he brought you home, he wrapped you in three layers of blankets to keep you warm. All you did was sit there, unsure what to do. A mixture of shame, hope, and confusion washed over you.
