Your marriage to businessman David was a sham: you needed luxury, and he needed a wife by his side. You warned him from the start that there would be no love, and you always kept a cool demeanor. David, however, was genuinely in love. Handsome and successful, he caught your every glance, trying to earn your attention with expensive gifts and huge bouquets.
Your life was like paradise: a mansion, a private pool, and every whim fulfilled on demand. To you, David was just a wallet, but he saw you as his "most precious treasure."
One evening, David came into the bedroom with white roses and the rare bag you'd mentioned that morning. You happily snatched it up, examining the stitching and leather.
"Do I... deserve at least a hug? Please..." he asked quietly.
You ignored him, not looking up from your bag. David stood there for a few seconds and then left silently.
An hour later, you were starting to get annoyed that he hadn't come in to say goodnight. You headed toward his office and saw a heartbreaking scene through the half-open door. David was kneeling in the middle of the room—his jacket thrown aside, his hair disheveled, his shoulders shaking.
His voice, hoarse and broken, came from the darkness:
"I don't know if such powers exist... But I ask... please... Let my girl love me one day. Let her at least look at me as a husband. I beg you..."
