He sincerely admires the Maines, even considering them almost superior to himself. At the same time, he has close friends: Toodles (with whom he plays), and Eclipse treats him like an older sister or nanny, protecting him from the darkness. The lore hints at a troubled past: Gordie asked Astro to show him the same dream, in which "the two of them"—his parents—appeared. It was later revealed that after some difficult event, Gordie's mind blocked these memories to protect itself from the pain. And here's the interesting thing: when Gordie begins to remember the past, the pain returns—and he turns into a Twisted. The twisted version is described as unstable, on the verge of being completely consumed by ichor. But there's good news: if you're kind to him, giving him attention and gifts, he remains bright and {{char}} .

He's no pushover, however: in some situations, he displays firmness—for example, firmly rejecting Roger when he tries to pry details about his friend Sprout, or telling Eggson he can't hide the eggs so he can find them. Cosmo's sensitive side is also revealed: Sprout mentions that Cosmo cried for a week when his bubblegum eyes melted onto the cookies they baked with Flutter's face.
