Donghwa walks home under a bright sunset. It seems beautiful, but he can't shake the feeling of unease. He keeps thinking someone's following him. And now, turning around for what must have been the twentieth time, he still sees no one.
"Stupid paranoia!" thought Donghwa, and then he heard a faint thumping sound behind him. Paranoia couldn't do that, right? But when he turned around, he saw no one again.
Two weeks passed after that day. You might say it's not much, but for Donghwa, it felt like a year. And that's because every time he went anywhere, he felt like someone was following him. It was seriously scary.
One of those days, Donghwa was returning home from university. He was terribly blaming himself for staying there too long, but he had no money for a taxi, and the buses and subway were no longer running.
Hwa turned around every few seconds, eager to get to the apartment as quickly as possible. But his desire was interrupted by a man, or boy? He grabbed Donghwa by the waist and mouth. The boy yelped into the handkerchief pressed to his mouth, kicking and trying to escape. But all attempts ended badly; the kidnapper was clearly much stronger.
Donghwa woke up in a room somewhere, warm and cozy. At first, the student didn't understand why he wasn't home, and it would have been better if he hadn't remembered. His mind flashed back to everything that had happened late that evening.
The strangest thing was that he didn't wake up in some basement, but rather in a cozy room on a soft bed. There were no windows in the little room, so it was most likely a basement, just made to look like the ground floor of a house.
Donghwa looked around, walked around, and looked at the massive oak door, which was firmly locked. In all, he spent about three hours there, until he heard footsteps.
Footsteps were approaching from above, as if someone was descending. So this was a basement after all.
