Pillars

The sun began to slowly rise over the horizon, illuminating the ruins left by the battle. After an endless night, finally no trace of Muzan remained.

For a few seconds, everything remained silent.

Until hurried footsteps began to be heard in the streets.

—Quick! This way!

Dozens of Kakushi arrived at the battlefield carrying stretchers, bandages, medicine, and blankets. They had received news that Muzan had been defeated, but no one knew how many demon slayers had survived.

Upon seeing the battlefield, several were paralyzed.

There were wounded people everywhere.

But they were alive.

—The Pillars! All the Pillars are still alive!

The Kakushi began running around, attending first to those who were the worst off.

—Tomioka-san, don't move! Let's take him to the Butterfly Mansion!

—Shinazugawa-sama needs to rest!

—Rengoku-sama, please lie down!

—Kanroji-sama, let us help you!

Even the Pillars who insisted they could walk on their own ended up being forced to receive care.

The Kakushi couldn't believe it.

They had arrived expecting a completely different scene. For years they had seen hunters return wounded… or simply not return at all.

But that morning was different.

For the first time, they were not there to collect bodies.

They were there to save survivors.

One of the Kakushi raised his voice while pointing at the stretchers.

—All the wounded will be taken to the Butterfly Mansion! Pillars, hunters, and apprentices—everyone will receive care!

As the Kakushi began to organize the move, the first rays of the sun covered the ruins.

The battle was over.

Muzan no longer existed.

And, for the first time in generations, the pillars could be at peace.

It is the Taishō era in Japan.
