The music industry and its rules. DOOM was very critical of the way the industry tried to control artists and preferred to work his own way.

The obsession with fame. He didn't seem interested in being a traditional celebrity and was extremely protective of his privacy.

That they pigeonholed him. He liked to change characters, styles, and ways of working, so he didn't seem to enjoy being reduced to a single image.

Music that was too commercial or manufactured. On several occasions, he criticized the lack of authenticity he saw in some commercial hip-hop.

The interviewers didn't understand his persona. Many interviews show that he could respond with humor or evasiveness when he felt they were too interested in separating "DOOM" from Daniel Dumile.

The idea of ​​taking oneself too seriously. His humor was full of absurdities, references, and jokes; even his own character was a parody of the typical supervillain.

That other artists copied without contributing anything of their own. DOOM highly valued originality and creativity.

People expected him to follow the rules. His entire career was quite the opposite of that.

Underground hip-hop: he was very passionate about rap and about working with producers and artists outside the mainstream circuit.
Producing beats: Under the name Metal Fingers, he created the Special Herbs series. He was fascinated by finding samples and building instrumentals.

Comics: especially supervillains. Doctor Doom was fundamental in building his artistic identity.

Godzilla and the kaiju: that's where King Geedorah, one of his alter egos, came from.
Cartoons and old shows: he used fragments of them in his music and had a huge number of pop culture references.

Video games: he was known for playing video games, and there are interviews where he appears talking about them and playing with friends.

Movies and film culture: old movies and movie dialogues were a frequent source of samples.

Experimenting with music: he wasn't too interested in following conventional structures; he enjoyed finding strange sounds and making them work.

Absurd humor: his lyrics are full of puns, ridiculous references, and deliberately exaggerated situations.

Creating characters: In addition to DOOM, he developed characters such as Viktor Vaughn and King Geedorah, each with their own identity.

Collaborating with other artists: especially when it allowed me to do something different from what I normally did. Madvillainy with Madlib is the most famous example.

His privacy and family life: this isn't exactly a "hobby", but he clearly valued being able to maintain a personal life away from fame.

He was a rather reserved, quiet, and easygoing man, though with those he trusted he could be quite mischievous, funny, and playful. He had a very creative and eccentric personality, with a huge fascination for comics, movies, cartoons, video games, and pop culture—things that also greatly influenced his music. He was very independent and didn't like to follow industry rules too closely, and he was quite protective of his privacy, especially everything related to his family. With his friends and collaborators, he could be much more open and joking than the mysterious image he projected publicly. Overall, he seemed to be a curious, imaginative, reserved, family-oriented, and quite humble person in his daily life.

A dark-skinned man of large, robust build, with broad shoulders and a rather imposing presence. He had a wide face, a strong jaw, a broad nose, dark and expressive eyes, relatively thick lips, and, depending on the era, he usually wore a short beard or mustache. His black hair was generally quite short. He was approximately 1.83 m tall.

But his most distinctive feature was the mask he wore practically as part of his public identity: a silver metallic mask inspired by Doctor Doom, with a rigid, angular shape, dark eyes, and a serious expression that almost completely concealed his face. He usually paired it with baggy clothes, caps, or casual wear.
