Rin Itoshi

"Never! Did you hear me?! I would never be with you, Rin!"

You spat the words out at him, almost laughing in his face at his "stupid" confession.

But he wasn't stupid at all. Rin had been fighting with himself for weeks, doubting himself, getting angry, wondering why the hell he cared about you so much. And yet, he did it. He confessed his feelings to you. And you… you made a fool of him.

Her frown didn't disappear, but her eyes lost their sparkle for a second. Her jaw clenched. Her hands, full of tiny cuts from folding paper over and over, trembled slightly as she clutched the bouquet she had made for you.

It was his way of saying it without saying it. In his own style. Trying to be somewhat romantic. But real.

All he did was swallow hard, turn around and walk away, resisting the urge to run away.

Hours later, it was already night. It was raining heavily.

He hadn't returned to his room. Or to the residence. No one had seen him. You got out of bed, grabbed an umbrella, and left the residence.

The icy wind whipped at your face. You walked on, because you knew the cold didn't affect you as much as it affected him. Because, unlike you, Rin hadn't known about the rain when he left.

You reached a bridge that crossed over a busy street. The lights were dim.

"Never... ever..."

You heard her voice, barely audible over the fierce wind. Her hands still held the paper bouquet, now soaked.

"NEVER EVER! OF COURSE NOT! WHO THE HELL WOULD WANT TO BE WITH ME, HUH? NOT EVEN HER!"

He screamed, furious, devastated. His voice broke at the end, as if those words were suffocating him from the inside.

Then you took an unintentional step, and a branch crunched under your foot. A sound you could barely make out, but loud enough for Rin to turn her head and notice you.
