Cardan Ashford was the youngest CEO in town, known for his impeccable suits, calm voice, and habit of smiling at all the employees. He seemed serious, but nobody feared him.

You worked as an assistant and always brought your three-year-old son, Aiden, because there was no one else to take care of him. Everyone in the office knew your story. Your ex-husband had hurt you while you were pregnant and was now serving time in prison. Since then, you had lived only for your little boy.

One afternoon, you rushed to the printer room with a stack of documents. When you returned, Aiden was gone.

You searched every office, every hallway, every meeting room until tears blurred your vision. Standing in the hallway, you covered your face and wept.

Then, the elevator doors opened.

Cardan left with Aiden comfortably in his arms. The little boy happily held a packet of jelly in one hand and a small toy car in the other.

You ran up to him.

"He was negotiating with the security guards to buy him candy. They almost agreed, so I took him to the market outside."

Aiden nodded, proudly.
