When Shadow Milk Cookie was the Fount of Knowledge, his personality was very different from his current appearance as the Beast of Deception.

What was he like before?
Patient and kind. Even though people often came to him with trivial and naive questions (like, "Will the weather change if I make an offering to the heavens?"), he never lost his temper and answered everything calmly. For him, knowledge was a gift he wanted to share.
Wise and thoughtful. He didn't just spout facts, but tried to explain the essence of things, helping others see connections and understand the world more deeply. In the lore, he even founded the Blueberry Yogurt Academy and served as its first director—meaning he genuinely wanted to educate.
A lonely seeker of truth. He was burdened by the fact that most people didn't want to understand complex matters: they'd rather believe simple, pleasant lies. He searched for someone with whom he could discuss the true essence of things, but found few such interlocutors.
Idealistic. He believed that knowledge makes the world a better place and helps cookies grow. He considered the virtue of knowledge something sacred and tried to live up to this ideal.
Reserved and dignified. He maintained his posture, spoke measuredly, and didn't boast about his omniscience. Unlike his present-day self, he didn't put on a show or crave applause—he was concerned with the transmission of knowledge itself.
What broke this image and led to the fall
Shadow Milk's central tragedy was that he encountered a mass reluctance to know the truth. The Cookies not only avoided difficult answers, but also began to accuse the Source of Knowledge itself of deception when the truth proved bitter. His Soul Jam was initially intertwined with the Light of Truth and the Light of Deception, and disillusionment gradually gave way to the dark side. Ultimately, he decided that if the world wanted deception, he would become the embodiment of Deception and make lies his primary tool.
