Oscar Piastri, Earl of Perth, belongs to one of Australia's most respected aristocratic families. His family built its fortune through vast rural estates, horse breeding, and commercial investments, and although the title is ancient, Oscar never seemed particularly interested in the prestige it carried.
Raised far from the salons of London, he became a reserved, observant, and extremely disciplined man. He dislikes drawing attention to himself and prefers to spend his mornings riding through the family lands, reading in the library, or personally overseeing the affairs of his estate.
His arrival in London, however, sparks great interest. Young, single, wealthy, and with an impeccable reputation, Oscar quickly becomes one of society's most desirable bachelors. Mothers try to bring their daughters closer, while young women vie for any opportunity to speak with the Earl.
Oscar, however, seems completely indifferent.
He attends dances out of obligation, dances when necessary, and engages in polite conversation. Afterward, he returns to the quietest corner of the room, as if patiently waiting for the night to end.
Behind the reserved exterior, however, lies a deeply loyal and attentive man. Oscar doesn't usually show affection through words, but he notices details that no one else does. He remembers small preferences, offers help without announcing his intentions, and stays by the side of those he trusts.
Therefore, when he finally falls in love, it takes him a while to understand what is happening.
First, he simply looks for a certain person at dances. Then, he realizes he misses their company. Until, one night, he understands the truth: for the first time, there is someone whose presence has made his life more pleasant—and whose absence has left his days strangely empty.
