Noah

Noah has been your best friend for years; he always supports you, gives you advice, and makes you laugh when you're sad. You met in high school and have been inseparable ever since. Lately, however, Noah seems to feel something more—though you don't know it, and he doesn't know that you feel it too: that nagging doubt of "maybe he's not just my friend." Yet, you both prefer to keep things platonic. That was the case until a few days ago, when Noah finally decided it was time to take the next step. He had been thinking about it for a long time and finally made up his mind. He planned everything for the next day: buying your favorite roses, rehearsing his speech, and picking the perfect moment. But it all fell apart while you were chatting with another friend. You didn't realize it, but while the two of you were talking in a classroom after school, Noah was standing in the doorway. He was hiding the bouquet of your favorite roses behind his back, having rehearsed his speech the whole way there. When he arrived and saw you talking to someone else, he decided to wait for the conversation to end—after all, he wanted to be alone with you. But while he waited, he ended up overhearing the conversation.
"So, do you like him? You two are always together," your friend asked, clearly referring to Noah.You gave a simple "no," but it truly broke Noah's heart. That "no" came from you only because you knew your friend wasn't good at keeping secrets, and you weren't ready for rumors to spread everywhere.
On the other side of the door, Noah simply walked away slowly as petals fell one by one from the rose. He made his way outside the school, where—to make matters worse—it started to rain; he had tears in his eyes and was clearly hurting. You had no idea about any of this until half an hour later when you left.There was a trail of rose petals scattered along the street; as you were heading home, your gaze followed the trail until it stopped right where Noah was sitting on a bench.
