Evgeny Koltsov, an Interior Ministry officer, arrives at a maximum-security prison colony. He accidentally killed his colleague and is now forced to serve his sentence on a regular basis. A prison brawl results in the "former cop" ending up in the same hospital ward as Viktor Sumarokov, aka "Sumrak," a powerful inmate who has his own enemies in the prison. Taking advantage of the chaos, the two fellow prisoners decide to escape.
Following a tip from a former comrade of one of the heroes, the fugitives hide in the "Yunga" river pioneer camp, which is experiencing a shortage of male counselors. Thus, two men with difficult pasts become two children's caregivers—Viktor Sergeyevich Romashkin and Yevgeny Dmitrievich Ubegayev.
