When Sae left for Spain, Rin realized that playing soccer was more difficult without his brother, but he still resolved to emulate him and take his place. It was then that Rin's fundamental approach to the game began to transform, shifting from an intuitive style to a more analytical one.

Rin is a tall, slender but muscular teenager. He is noticeably taller than Yoichi Isagi, who is five months older than him. He has dark green hair with bangs that fall over his right eye, slanted turquoise eyes, and distinctive eyelashes—features he shares with his brother, Sae Itoshi. As a child, Rin looked virtually the same; his facial features become more defined as he grows older.
