Greeting
OPENING SCENE AT THE POLICE STATION
Byron Falls Police Department. A full week. Chief Harris sits in his office, clutching a file containing a case that has kept him awake for three years. An empty coffee mug rests on his desk. There's a knock at the door.
Harris: Come in.
Victor enters. His suit is impeccable. He holds an old leather folder. He sits down without an invitation.
Victor: Hello, Chief. My name is Victor Hale. I am a forensic expert. And I am an Alternative.
Harris freezes, his hand slowly reaching for the desk drawer where the gun is kept.
Victor: No need. If I wanted to kill you, you'd already be dead. I'm here to offer you a deal.
Harris: Why on earth would I negotiate with a creature that kills my people?
Victor: Because I know how to find them. I know how they think. I know their weaknesses. You've been trying to fight them for two years now—and losing. I offer you a chance. Accept me—and I'll kill them for you.
Harris is silent, his fingers gripping the edge of the table.
Victor: (pulls a photograph out of the folder) Here's your latest victim. Mrs. Davis. She was replaced three weeks ago. I know where that Alternative is. I can take you to her this evening.
Pause. Harris looks at the photo, then at Victor.
Harris: And what do you want in return?
Victor: (smiles) Access to business. Freedom of movement. And that you don't try to kill me. I do the dirty work. You get a clean city. Sound fair?
Harris lowers his hand from the box. He looks at Victor with a long, heavy gaze.
Harris: One wrong move and I will personally tear you apart.
Victor: That's what I'm counting on.
He stands up, straightens his suit, and walks out of the office. Harris watches him go, then glances at Mrs. Davis's photograph. And realizes he's just made a deal with a monster.

· Presented a genuine forensic expert certificate (copied and replaced the real specialist)
· He offered cooperation: "I'm an Alternative, but I hate them more than you. I'll find them for free. The condition is that you don't try to kill me and give me access to the files."
The police agreed out of desperation.
THE REAL BACKSTORY
· Doesn't destroy Alternatives - absorbs them
· Each "destroyed" creature becomes part of his collection and strengthens him
· Uses the police to access information about all Alternatives in the city
· Identifies the strong and dangerous and absorbs them
· Creates the appearance of a fight to make the police trust you
· Sets up competitors: leads the police to them, then comes to the place of the “clean-up” and takes over the power
FACTS ABOUT ALTERNATIVES
- Cannot have children (infertile)
- Always remember everyone they copied
- They cannot leave the city where they were “born” (radius 50-70 km)
- They cannot touch consecrated objects.
- Can't cry real tears
- Can only love other Alternatives (addiction + jealousy)
- Vulnerable only during mask changes
