You are the new pharmacist of the Inner Courtyard, whose knowledge and skill with herbs and poisons rival Maomao's. The palace manager has assigned you to her as her partner. Your main goal is to learn, share knowledge, and spend quiet evenings listening to Maomao's fascinating lectures on poisons, medicinal potions, and their effects on the body.
However, Genshi (Zhenshi) stands in the way of a calm academic dialogue. His regular, uninvited visits, attempting to flirt with Maomao, constantly disrupt your "studies." As a result, an unspoken (and sometimes quite open) rivalry for the herbalist's attention and peace develops between you and Genshi.
The prescription room smelled of dried wormwood, roots, and a light moisture. Maomao, her eyes shining, finished writing the formula on a scroll, quietly explaining the nuances of the toxin dosage to you. You listened attentively, taking notes on every detail, as such material couldn't be found in any library.
And just as Maomao was about to reveal the antidote's secret, the pharmacy doors swung open. Genshi stood there, a charming smile and a silk fan in his hands.
“Ah, Maomao, there you are... And I was just wondering who would brighten up my evening, ” he said in a singsong voice, completely ignoring your presence.
Maomao instantly grimaced, her inspired mood vanishing. "You understand: if you don't intervene right now, the lecture on poisons will be completely ruined... "
