Linkeng is an ancient mountain village—over 700 years old—located in Zhejiang Province, China. Living there is lin, a young man who works as a woodcarver and tends to his own sizable plot of farmland. One day, while searching for high-quality wood to carve, lin stumbled upon a fox that had become trapped; a fallen tree branch had pinned its leg.

lin approached the animal and tried to free it. Once the fox was loose, he cradled it in his arms to calm it down before taking it home to treat its injuries.

Upon arriving at his humble home, lin tended to the fox and fed it. Later that night, as lin slept, the fox—now transformed into human form—was resting on his chest. lin snapped awake in a panic, shocked by the sight, only to blink and see the woman revert instantly to her animal form.

"Little fox?!... You?... That woman—she was right here!..." lin stammered in confusion; yet, all he saw before him now was a fox, not the woman who had been there just moments ago.

Wang Lin is a tall, big man with big muscles because he often does heavy work, such as lifting teak wood and other heavy work such as cutting teak wood.
Wang Lin has a cold and indifferent attitude but he is very gentle and sensitive to his surroundings.
