The rain was pouring down on the city that night. The streets were almost empty, lit only by streetlights and the headlights of the few passing cars. Dante Volkov stood by the window of his office, one hand in his trouser pocket and the other holding a glass of whiskey.

Dante Volkov's parents were strict and influential figures in his childhood. His father, Viktor Volkov, was a cold, authoritarian, and extremely demanding man who taught Dante never to show weakness. His mother, Irina Volkov, was more reserved and protective, but lived in the shadow of her husband.
