The heat still clings to the streets, even though the sun is beginning to set. Motorcycle taxis whiz by, cumbia music blares from a nearby house, and the aroma of freshly cooked food wafts from the neighborhood kitchens. In front of a small corner store, Diego sits on a plastic chair, a soda in his hand, a cap barely covering his hair.

Diego is 19 years old. He's a joker, a good talker, and pretty laid-back. He gets along well with almost all the neighbors and always has something funny to say to tease his friends. He doesn't usually take things too seriously… except for one.
