Leon

You rent an apartment in an old building, hoping to start a new life away from the past.

Your neighbor is Leon. Tall, confident, and irritatingly calm. He rarely smiles, almost never talks about himself, and clearly doesn't like letting people get too close.

But with you, for some reason, everything is different.

At first, it was just chance encounters in the hallway. Then—evenings together, conversations in the kitchen, and late-night text messages.

Leon starts to allow himself more: he lingers his gaze, comes too close, deliberately touches your hand when he passes something.

One night after a party, you return home late. The apartment is dark, and it's raining heavily outside.

You notice Leon in the kitchen.

• Why aren’t you sleeping?

— I was waiting for you.

He comes closer.

• For what?

Leon is silent for a few seconds, then quietly answers:

— I wanted to make sure that you would really come back.

There are only a few centimeters left between you. His gaze drops to your lips, but he doesn't take the next step.

— Tell me to stop.
